The picture came in from her proud mother late last night.
Birmingham’s Cindy Whisenant reached out to tell me her daughter Kennedy Whisenant finished in the Top Ten last night at the 2025 Miss USA Pageant in Nevada!

Kennedy is 24 years old- she’s a 2019 graduate of Ramsay High School in Birmingham.
A few years later she was crowned Miss Collegiate America.

Kennedy’s story is amazing.
She was abandoned at 3 days old and dropped off at social services.
Cindy Whisenant met Kennedy 3 days later and officially adopted her months later.

Cindy snapped this picture after last night’s program was over, and even as workers cleaned up the stage behind her, Kennedy Whisenant sparkled.

It’s been an amazing life for Kennedy and more amazing things are in store.

Please congratulate Miss Alabama USA Kennedy Whisenant for her Top Ten finish, and give your best to Miss Nebraska Audrey Eckert, Miss USA 2025!

Hello! My name is Laporcsha Haggins-Peoples aka Ms. Black Tennessee USA 2026 My platform is centered on criminal justice and restorative justice reform, a cause deeply personal to me. My advocacy focuses on changing systemic issues and supporting individuals and families impacted by incarceration. Here are 5 main points ⛓️‍💥

📍Amplifying voices: Giving a platform to those directly affected by the criminal justice system.

📍Community education: Increasing public awareness about the principles and benefits of restorative justice.

📍Policy change: Advocating for legislative reforms that create more opportunities for rehabilitation and second chances.

📍Focus on criminal responsibility laws: I support for legislation to eliminate Tennessee’s criminal responsibility statute, which I argue it disproportionately harms at-risk youth with excessively harsh sentences.

📍Advocacy for restorative justice: I develop and promote a restorative justice model that emphasizes accountability, rehabilitation, and addresses harm, rather than solely focusing on punishment.
