Wait… Billy Joel , why didn’t you tell us sooner?! 🤯

If your Rubbermaid containers are stained from greasy pasta sauce, don’t toss them. Add warm water, a drop of dish soap, and a paper towel, then shake for 10 seconds. The stains lift right off and your containers look almost brand new.

Did you already know this trick, or am I the last one to find out? 😂

Furniture restoration, antique decorating, and timeless home design are becoming a big part of our journey at Sweet Olive Cove.

This piece has been waiting for years. I found it on Facebook Marketplace for $100 and tucked it away until the right project came along. Now it finally has a purpose.

We're transforming it into a bathroom vanity for our new home by adding back the legs that were cut off, creating a skirt to hide where a shelf was removed, and restoring its original character with a rich dark stain. It will eventually be topped with marble or quartz and a vessel sink.

I love the idea of giving old furniture a second life. These pieces carry history, craftsmanship, and stories that deserve to be part of a home for another generation.

And this is just the beginning. I have several other pieces waiting their turn for a makeover, each with its own story and potential. Follow along for all the before-and-afters, how-tos, design decisions, successes, and the occasional surprises that come with projects like these.

Would you choose marble or quartz for the top?

Bocce court plans, wildflower gardens, outdoor dining, a chicken coop, and a whole lot of family memories.

One of the most meaningful additions to Sweet Olive Cove won’t be inside the house at all.

We’re building a bocce court to honor a tradition started by my Grandpaw Scordino. Every year, friends and family would gather for bocce tournaments, forming teams of four, making custom t-shirts, competing for trophies, and earning a full year of bragging rights.

We’ve heard so many stories about those weekends, and now we’re hoping to create a place where new memories can be made for generations to come.

The vision: a bocce court surrounded by wildflowers, an outdoor dining area for long dinners under the stars, a garden full of blooms, and a chicken coop tucked just beyond.

Sweet Olive Cove has never been just about building a house. It’s about creating a place where people gather, traditions live on, and memories are made.

Follow along as we bring this dream to life, one project at a time. 🤍

Antiques, warm colors, and pattern are my prediction for where design is headed next.

I think people are craving homes with a story again. Homes that feel collected over time instead of purchased all at once. Antiques carry history. Every scratch, worn edge, and repair is part of a life that came before us.

Maybe that’s why so many of us are drawn to places like Italy. They don’t tear down everything old and replace it with something new. They preserve the architecture, celebrate the imperfections, and hold onto the stories.

I think our homes are heading in that direction too.

Less perfection.
More character.
Less matching.
More meaning.

Do you think antiques, warm colors, and pattern are making a comeback—or am I completely wrong? Tell me your prediction for design in the comments. 👇

It’s not really about swapping cars in a Walmart parking lot.

It’s about any chance you get to hug a family member, catch up for a few minutes, and call it a good day.

The older I get, the more I realize those little moments are the ones that matter most.

Brain tumor survivor story, life after diagnosis, healing journey, and learning how to do hard things—this is what happened when I was preparing for sinus surgery and found out I had two brain tumors.

What followed was shock, second opinions, tears, hard decisions, unexpected kindness, and a lot of learning how to keep moving forward when life changes overnight.

If you're walking through a health scare, a difficult season, or something that feels impossible right now, I hope this reminds you that you're stronger than you realize. We can do hard things with God by our side.

If this resonates with you, follow along at Sweet Olive Cove as i share the messy, the beautiful, and very real journey of rebuilding life, a home, and myself after the hardest chapter of my life.

1 Peter 5:10

When I’m in a rut—whether it’s creative, personal, or just one of those seasons where every day feels the same—I know I need to change something.

Not something big. Just something. I’ve learned that sitting around waiting to feel motivated rarely works.

So I start collecting little sparks and inspiration.

I put on music. I play all kinds but Christian music always keeps me grounded and a little 70s and 80s rock get my heart rate up.

I go for a walk and add said music.

I take a Pilates class.

I get outside in the sunshine.

I sign up for a class I’ve never taken before. Lately that’s looked like an art class, flower arranging, cooking class and even a lampshade-making class .

Not because I need another thing on my calendar. But because new experiences wake something up inside of me. They remind me that there’s still so much to learn, create, and explore. The funny thing is, motivation usually shows up after I start moving. Not before.

So if you’re feeling stuck right now, maybe you don’t need a complete life overhaul. Maybe you just need one small thing that makes you feel a little more alive today.

1 Timothy 4:14-15
“Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress.”
