Eryka nailing her 2013 UGA Moc Tryout at JanFest
Thanks to Eryka's Mom and Papa for taking pictures on Senior night while I ran the video camera and was down on the field with Eryka. Some are a little blurry but their better then nothing. Thanks to Amry's dad Branden for running the video cameras during the performance and the recognizing of the band seniors. I really hope that everyone has enjoyed these pictures that I have posted over the past years because there will not be many more to come. Band and Guard season is almost over except for the Christmas parade and the Guard banquet. I will leave the pictures up here for a while before I start removing the older ones first so get 'em before their gone!
I have had a great time with all the past and current band members over the years but I have a special place in my heart for the Color Guard and Majorettes. I have had the pleasure of watching them grow up, some for the past 4 years, seeing them go through the highs and lows that come in life and mature into young adults. I know that I will miss them dearly next year as they go on to another season but its been a blast and I truly love each and everyone of you and I wish you only the best in life.
On October 20, 2012, the Hart County Band Boosters will sponsor the Lake Hartwell Marching Festival and Competition. The event will be held at Hart County Hi...
To the entire UCHS Pride of the Mountains Band. YOU ROCK!!!
We are so proud of each and everyone of you. Saturday was a pleasant and well needed surprise. You can now say with your heads held high that you are the Superior, Award Winning, Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. Thank you Mr. R. for getting the Majorettes approved BEFORE the competition because they showed everyone why they are #1 (1st place in AAA Division and 1st place overall in the entire contest). Great job Tina, Amy and Jessica, you deserve it!. To the Color Guard, WOW, now thats the way to end the season (1st in AAA Division and 3rd overall in the entire contest)! To the Color Guard captains, Eryka, Kayla and Joseph, thank you for being the leaders that you are and teaching your girls. We would not be were we are if not for you three. You were not supposed to have to be the "Adults" this year and deal with EVERYTHING but you showed us who's the most dedicated and always there for your team! That AWESOME!! Eryka, you have made me the proudest Dad in the world getting to watch you grow up these past 4 years in Guard and leading your team to 1st place at your last High School band competition. Its not been an easy road traveled but I hope we can change these issues that are easily fixed. That way when you come back to UCHS in the future you can be proud of what your Guard has become and say with PRIDE, "I was a part of this team and played a vital role in making it better!" Also congratulations on never missing a practice, game, competition, fundraiser, meeting, breakfast, sleep over, etc... in all 4 years of Guard. I know that no one else has ever done that before and thats why you are OUR Captain! I Love you very much! The Brick!!! The Brick!!! OH MY GOSH, ERYKA, THE BRICK!!! For those of you that do not know about the brick, let me enlighten you on this little good luck charm. 5 or 6 years ago, the guard was practicing at the school when one of the members hit a wall with their flag pole and knocked a brick out of it. They kept the brick and took it to the next band competition. Kayla Mullins was playing with the brick before the competition and dropped it, chipping a piece off of the brick. They won 1st place. Now for all these years the brick has been forgotten about, never used and the Guard has not won 1st place since (either not deserving of it or being wrongly judged). On Saturday, my beautiful daughter got the brick out and took it with her, couldn't hurt right? Before the competition, Eryka and Kayla Fortenberry were playing with the brick and Kayla dropped it, chipping another piece off of it. THEY WON 1st PLACE. Now hows that for luck??? I guess that we need to always have a Kayla on the team and have her chip the brick before each competition. Way to go Girls!
Thanks to the band boosters for their support and dedication to the kids. I have been a part of it for the last 4 years and have watched it grow. We have done lots this year and are aways trying to find new ways to get the band more exposure and support them not only financially but in every way possible. We need more parents to attend these meetings and have your voice heard. There are lots of you out there that have issues that need to be heard. We are with you and have these same issues weighing heavy on our hearts but can only get things changed if EVERYONE will just speak up and stand together with us and let these issues be known. Strength in numbers can always move mountains! Next meeting is Nov 13th @ 7pm.
Thank you for letting me be a part of each and everyone one of your child's lives. I have been a pain to some and a blessing to others but EVERYTHING I have done was to try and make this experience for our kids better. I am very passionate about our kids being respected and allowing them to have fun. I am not done yet but my time is about up and will have to hand over the rains to the next GuardFather. Brandon, that is you my friend. You are the only other GuardFather that is worthy of the Title!! Use it well.
Amry's Dad, Brandon has uploaded the performance and I have uploaded the award ceremony from Saturday. Check them out as I have posted them here.
Thanks again, Its been a blast!
The car wash was a success! Had a great time with all the kids and parents that helped out. Also our new Band Stand on friday night home games is creating lots of attention for the band and is a great asset to the band boosters. Thanks to all that made that happen! Keep up the great work guys.
To the UCHS Pride of the Mountains Band. I just wanted to say that your Friday and Saturday performances were the best we have seen so far and I can not wait to see whats next. I know that the "Judges" and I use that term loosely, gave you a score and placement that no one agrees with. PLEASE do not let that discourage all the hard work that EVERYONE has put in so far. The REAL Judges that you impress each and every day and especially did on Saturday are all of us in the stands. You rocked it out there and we all know that. You got the entire audience fired up and cheering loudly during your entire show. It was the loudest applause for a band to that point in the competition. You were and are the greatest band to all of us and thats all that really matters. You are the Pride of the Mountains and we are so proud to call you ours!
Keep up the hard work and we'll get 'em next time!
Hey Guys, I have uploaded the video of the final run through on youtube so everyone can study it and see where they need improvements. Change the setting to 720pHD for the best quality video. Hope this helps everyone and keep up the hard work.
Thanks again to Eryka's Papa for taking more pictures while I filmed the halftime shows. He got lots more pictures then last time so everyone should be able to find themselves in there somewhere.
I hope that everyone is having a great fall break and is ready to work extra hard next week getting ready for competetion so you show them city slickers how its done in the Mountains!
Thanks to Eryka's Papa for taking some pictures Friday at the game while I was filming. He only got a few.
To the Band, Color Guard and Majorettes, keep up the good work! You are all sounding and looking great and we are very proud of you!
Here is the video of the Lumpkin County game.
To everyone that has expressed their thanks, You're welcome! I know if I could not attend my kids practice and was able to see them hard at work through these pictures, I would be very grateful for them.
AGAIN, if anybody has an issue with their or their kid's picture being posted on here, PLEASE let ME know, and I will take care of it ASAP.
Thanks again to all the band members. Can't wait for Friday nights!
Howdy to all the band members and parents. Everyone feel free to download the photos that you are in and use them in a proper manner. I hope that the parents and family members that do not get to see you kids hard at work in person can at least get to see you here. I know that it is not the same but I hope this helps!
If anybody has an issue with their picture being uploaded here please let me know and I will remove it and do my best to keep you out of future pictures.
Thanks again and enjoy
