October Camp Paradise Date w my Halle Joy. Talked about rootedness today and gave her a preview of this weekends sermon. A highlight was Halle telling me how Mr. Simon is helping her grow as a leader. Beyond thankful for the community of other Spiritual voices speaking vision and life into my kids. šŸ™Œ

PS, yes she’s a Cubs fan. It’s jersey day at school and she wanted to wear a jersey my friend sent me.

Hannah got asked to HoCo last night. The young man came inside along w his buddy…with flowers. Very respectful. I was impressed. Raised right? No doubt.

I said, well…if you can knock out 50 pushups with me, the answer is yes. šŸ˜‚ His buddy joined in.
Well done boys. šŸ’Ŗ

Anything is possible.

To say I’m proud of this family is an understatement. Last night, Reid crossed the finish line in Chattanooga becoming an Ironman. We’ve swam, cycled and have run MILES together over the years and since the middle school days, Team Hutch have been such a gift to me and our ministry at Mission. Huge congratulations you 3. Soooo proud of you. Text me for tattoo recommendations šŸ˜‚

Had the weekend off preaching (thanks TB) so was able to stand with my friend Brock and Sarah as they tied the knot and then traveled to Grove City, PA to support the nephew. Grateful for some time off pastorally and time on relationally. I’ve been feeling more fatigued than usual so would appreciate prayer for me and my family as we head into Grand Opening next weekend.

This weekend I shared with you a discipleship diagnostic tool you can use with your Missional Communities, Kids, Spouse, Roommates…anyone serious about living a God-guarded life. These 5 God-Given Guardrails are interconnected just like our 5 fingers are. It’s not one or some…it’s all 5, ALWAYS.

1. The Word of God (Thumb)
The thumb gives grip and strength—it works with every other finger. God’s Word anchors and strengthens every guardrail. Without it, your faith can’t hold on.

2. The Spirit of God (Index Finger)
The pointer finger directs—it shows the way. The Holy Spirit guides, convicts, and leads us into all truth.

3. The People of God (Middle Finger)
The tallest finger, visible and central. The community of faith is meant to stand tall, visible to the world, and central in our walk of finding and following Christ.

4. The Presence of God (Ring Finger)
The finger of covenant and intimacy—where the wedding ring goes. God’s Presence represents closeness, intimacy, and covenant relationship.

5. The Mission of God (Pinky Finger)
The hand loses 50% of its strength without it. Same for your life and same for the church.

This weekend I taught about the God given guardrail that protects us and keeps us advancing in the right direction: THE PEOPLE OF GOD.

The backstory I didn’t feel ready or up to sharing was how personal this phrase RIP THR ROOF OFF was to my late friend …this was his favorite passage to preach on and when he did, you could feel his passion and fire to do everything we can to carry our friends to Jesus. I preached my guts out 4 times and thought about and .e.springer throughout the weekend. If you felt my urgency, you now know why. His life and legacy to remove barriers and rip off roofs is living on.

With his sudden passing, here’s what is crystal clear right now: EVERY DAY IS A GIFT.
We are promised eternity but not tomorrow so let’s be ROOF RIPPING followers of Jesus, living with urgency to do all we can to make heaven more crowded.

Beyond words.

Today we celebrated the life of a man who packed 100 years into 49.

Gone too soon? Yes. Without question.
Gone without a legacy? No.

The impact of my friend will live on. What an honor to be there today. We hold both pain and promise.

Huge shoutout to for teaching on a short notice so me and Kelly could make this trip. Beyond grateful bro.
e.springer we love you with all our hearts.

Starting another round of Stay Ready this coming Monday August 11th. We’ll call it our Back to School Beast Mode Edition. šŸ˜Ž

Some key areas of focus will be around filling my Alpha Circle, weekly Family dinners, an Epic Grand Opening Weekend and completing the Chicago Marathon with Team World Vision. This 50 day system has proven to be deeply transformative for me over the past 2 years and I know I need as much as anyone.

Grace is a Gift.
Growth is a Choice.
Choose Growth.

Summer Selah Complete āœ…

The past two weeks I’ve been off IG to intentionally pause and rest. Two things I’m not very good at but am super thankful for the break. What a gift!!

We packed in some great moments this Summer Selah…top 10 highlights…

1. Visiting two other churches; Chicago Tabernacle and Willow Creek. What a gift for me and my family to see and experience more of The Church of Chicagoland. Was such a treat to cheer on my buddy Shawn as the new Sr Pastor of Willow.

2. Time with one of my best friends down in Waco. Can you tell that he was the starting tight end. Giant.

3. Visiting the bean w my girls.

4. Golf with my nephew, brother and dear friend Troy at RHF. Unbelievable place. The course record was very safe.

5. Celebrating the Ngala’s 1 year on staff at Mission. Forever grateful for this dream team. 🄳

6. Getting to hold Luke and Liz’s newest edition, Oliver.

7. Finishing another Ironman 70.3 with my good friend Josh. Guest appearance by Big Dawg. Meant the world, Nate.

8. An epic night w the Zirkels šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹

9. Cycling with my brother Jut 🦬

10. Salsa lessons with my Bride. šŸ’ƒšŸ˜

Tomorrow marks day 1 of a new ministry season for me. I’d love and appreciate your prayers as I get back in the pulpit and help lead our amazing team forward into an unprecedented season of change and growth. Clinging to Ephesians 3:20… ā€œnow to Him who is ableā€¦ā€

Here we go.

I’m powering down by powering off …this two week Summer Selah break is a tremendous gift to digitally detox, unplug, rest and reload for the upcoming ministry season. The building is closed but let’s be a Church whose hearts are wide open to linger with Jesus and our loved ones, a little bit longer.

If or better said, when I don’t respond to your messages or texts or emails it’s because I’m Selah’ing šŸ˜Ž 🄳

Enjoy the teaching vids from and and we’ll see you next on August 2nd or 3rd as we kick off a new ministry year. 🄳

Much love ā¤ļøāœŒļø

What a weekend at Mission! šŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ The Gulley Brothers blessed me in a big way. Thank you Antioch for sharing these legends with us for a weekend. Deeply thankful for the sermon and worship and of course our 1913 dinner last night. We told deer hunting stories, ate way too much and laughed till it hurt. Love you guys!
