Twelve years ago I thought I'd try and publish a tetralogy (four book series), and I had the first three.
Then my dog died, and I knew in order to put the dog-ownership in perspective, I'd have to write about it.
Back to the Tetralogy: the fourth part started growing into a monster, and I knew I needed to write another book. I didn't know I was creating a genre - but I did.
In 2014, eight years ago, I published my 'Dog-book', and then the four novellas of the Herbia series. Like most short books they take weeks to write, months to edit and correct, and more weeks to publish. Unlike the BIG authors, I like many people had to do everything myself. Though obscure, it's changed my life.
Thing is, many people think of writing, or write 50-pages of some book and then throw it into a drawer and forget it. One percent of authors become best sellers - most sell a few hundred at best. One has to like writing and casting stories to keep at it when few if any people have actually read your books.
Hope springs eternal - there's no choice but optimism.
