Not really a fan of posting sad news, but I am still confused and disheartened by the events leading up to Todd Snider's death and now this hard story about Gary Numan's brother is a bit too much. These both seem to have been preventable deaths. And these people, while being older than young, still had much more ahead of them...in an ideal world. But man the world just isn't ideal and seems to feel harder with age. Idk what can be said or done, but we just soldier on. There's still music to listen to, so let's get back to doing the best we can and have some thoughts for these most unfortunate of situations.

Oh no, this is terrible.
The post pandemic years weren't kind to Todd, but also the events since Halloween feel a little more than shocking and questionable. Very sad to see Todd go out like this.
There are so many great songs and performances to find online and in record stores forever. Turn it up. Loud enough to wake the neighbors.

Aimless, Inc. Headquarters is heartbroken to share that our Founder, our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World, our Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept., the Storyteller, our beloved Todd Daniel Snider has departed this world. Where do we find the words for the one who always had the right words, who knew how to distill everything down to its essence with words and song while delivering the most devastating, hilarious, and impactful turn of phrases? Always creating rhyme and meter that immediately felt like an old friend or a favorite blanket. Someone who could almost always find the humor in this crazy ride on Planet Earth.

He relayed so much tenderness and sensitivity through his songs, and showed many of us how to look at the world through a different lens. He got up every morning and started writing, always working towards finding his place among the songwriting giants that sat on his record shelves, those same giants who let him into their lives and took him under their wings, who he studied relentlessly. Guy Clark, John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Jeff Walker.

How do we move forward without the one who gave us countless 90 minute distractions from our impending doom? The one who always had 18 minutes to share a story. We’ll do it by carrying his stories and songs that contain messages of love, compassion, and peace with us. Today, put on one of your favorite Todd Snider records and "play it loud enough to wake up all of your neighbors or at least loud enough to always wake yourself up.” We love you Todd, sail on old friend, we’ll see you again out there on the road somewhere down the line. You will always be a force of nature.

So happy to have the chance to see Caroline Rose re-booked at Shrine last night. A rare seated show in the ballroom was the perfect atmosphere. Caroline is a special storyteller who becomes one with the crowd. She is also some kind of slacker hero, a little bit of a legend. The new album was already great, but hearing it in that environment was an ideal fit and it's surely a top ten experience this year. What’s never ideal is my picture taking, but really I’m just here to remember this a long time from now. Thanks to Duck Club for sticking with this unique chance.

Disturbing incidents with Todd Snider in SLC on Halloween.
This really hurts to see happen. Todd is a fun storyteller and crafty performer. No way he deserves anything like this. No one does. But this also highlights the more unsung part of being a touring musician. A common perception is that it’s a glamorous life. The reality is quite the opposite. Todd’s been living out of a suitcase for 35 years and it’s not enviable to perpetually experience the dives and darksides of a different city every night. Still a story unknown at this point, but it’s fair to say that Todd’s life hasn’t been easy lately and just got worse. The world is crazy and we have to get by the best we can. Here’s hoping Todd recovers and we get to see him again soon.

What an amazing experience! Turns out the booth gets really hot with five people in it 🔥 Thanks to DJ Sage for bringing another off the walls weird song show.
