The “4 Cs” of Smile65 offer an imperfect, concise 40,000ft view of our vision and intention for this program. These are just some of the ways you receive value through the program in far excess of your annual cost of membership.
Content:
This club is focused on creating and distributing content that evokes smiles. This could be a recipe, joke, article, photograph, travel blog, book review, or something else. You have unique knowledge, humor, tips, trips, and experiences that we invite you to share.
What you focus on you create. We share smiles because we want to raise everyone's frequency and mood. The content available to you should result in a “smile scroll” rather than a “doom scroll”. Additionally, the volume is finite. You can actually reach “the end” of your feed. If you do, check back later and watch for updates from your circle.
In 2010 on MetaFilter user Andrew Lewis (blue_beetle) typed, "If you are not paying for it, you’re not the customer; you’re the product being sold." Not so at Smile65! We are here to serve you. We have built this for you. You are our customer. You are in control. Let us know how you would like to see this community evolve and improve to better serve you.
Community:
On social media, you post and shout into the void. When you publish a piece of content, you aren’t sure who will see it or interact with it. Unlike conventional social media where you are tasked with processing a high volume of impersonal content, our system is designed to encourage a low volume of high-quality, personal content.
For example, if you use social media, you probably have a smaller inner circle with whom you send DMs or share links. Following the 80/20 rule we get rid of the former and keep the latter. Why not just focus on the part that gives you the most enjoyment? Let’s cultivate meaningful and personal interactions with your favorite people.
Back in the day of email chain-mail, you would create a list of who you want to read a piece of content and you would forward it. I used to be on my grandpa’s email list. He would blast out jokes, periodicals, hot takes, and educational information. I knew he was sending it to me because at some point he thought I would find use in what he had to share. He knew I would see it because he sent it directly to me. We want to bring back that chain-mail energy.
Each piece of content travels on a unique journey which you can see like a game of telephone.
Additionally, we are working to expand our features to include online activities, minigames, quizzes, as well as the ability to organize in-person meetups and events in your area.
Coupons:
The “coupons” term is useful for the 4 Cs but really does us a disservice in that our vendor program offers MUCH more than mere coupons. Our vendor program is best divided into three sections.
Vendor list. This is a directory of national and local vendors who have signed up to offer products and services to the community. These are carefully vetted professionals who have agreed to offer deals and discounts to our members in exchange for the listing. We negotiate with the vendors to get our members the best value.
Coupons and offers. The coupons and offers are the specific deals offered by our vendors with instructions on how to redeem the offer. Our members gain THOUSANDS of dollars individually of real value every year through vendor offers alone.
SME articles. Our vendors cannot view the user-generated content on the Smile65 platform or community unless they’ve experienced 65 rotations about the sun. But they are able and encouraged to write useful articles in their realm of expertise.
Commissions:
Your subscription allows you to participate in our program. If you sign up as an AMBASSADOR (at no additional charge) then we pay you for enrollments and set you up with the tools you need to be successful in building and growing your circle. Our ambassadors are independent contractors. Track your commissions and enrollments within your ambassador dashboard and receive a special ambassador badge on your profile.
Every Smile65 subscriber is assigned to an ambassador. If you sign up via our website, affiliate, or social media, we will assign an ambassador to you who lives near you. The Ambassadors also assist as gatekeepers to prevent imposters under 65 from signing up.
