I never got that baby fever that so many women gush about. I never felt that becoming a mom was my life’s purpose. Before having kids, I identified as a woman in the middle. I could have gone either way. At first, being on the fence made me feel like maybe motherhood wasn’t for me. Should I bring kids into the world when I wasn’t 110% sure and ready? When I wasn’t dying to get pregnant and give up my independence? After now having 2 kids, I’m so happy with my choice. BUT, I’m this happy because I designed my motherhood experience to work for ME. I travel without my kids, I take time “off” to recharge or to do the things I love outside of motherhood, JP and I take shifts so that our entire world isn’t parenting, and I parent in ways that work for us (and not for society). And let me tell you, I feel zero guilt. Leave a comment about the unconventional things that you do that make you enjoy motherhood more.
