This page helps spread the word about our various publications based on fine art of the male figure, and opportunities for artists who produce such work. We will slip in some stories and news of interest as well.

Nice article about one of our books: http://gayletter.com/stabbert-boys-of-summer/
That sinking feeling is upon us. The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler. The picnics in the park are fading. The long walks on the beach are winding down. And the sad reality of saying goodbye to a summer love is weighing heavy on our hearts. Soon all we'll be left…
We have officially begun working on the 2016 edition of "The Art of Man." As we said previously, we're moving from quarterly editions to annual ones. We hope to release this editions around Thanksgiving.

We have mailed out our first 8 proposals for an exhibition of male figurative art at major museum institutions. The first 8 were selected based on their annual attendance, and proximity to us. Luckily this meant 8 of out top 10 were located from Boston to Washington DC, and as far west as Pittsburgh. All within a 6 hour drive should a meeting be scheduled based on our initial proposal.
We have no expectations really. The gatekeepers have not yet seen fit to allow such an exhibition in America. We hope one or a few may have their eyes opened by the quality and variety of the work we have presented them: nearly 200 painters, sculptors, and photographers that we have featured in our publications.
The published collection will not be available to anyone outside the directors of museums we have sent it to. We have requested that even if they do not accept our proposal that they keep the book in their archives as a detailed record of what contemporary artists are doing with the non-erotic male figure as subject.
If you have any "in" or know anyone of power in the US museum system, I would appreciate a message. You can use the contact link at the website to do so. WE WILL NOT consider a scaled down exhibition at a gallery or minor institution. The subject deserves national attention, not local interest.
Proposals were sent to the directors of the following museums:
National Gallery, MoMA, Guggenheim, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The Metropolitan, Hirshhorn Museum, Philadelphia Museum, and the Carnegie Museum.
You are welcome to peek at some of our presentation found at www.PowerfullyBeautiful.com . If you were included in ANY of our male figure based books through Sept. 2014, you have been included in this presentation, except for a select few who opted out because of their own changing portfolios.
Powerfully Beautifu l is the title of our first publication as Firehouse Publishing available HERE . Since then we have created many books that focus on the classical male figure in both traditional...

Working on the rough edits for "The Art of Man," edition 17!
This edition features 6 artists: Rita Foster (Cover Image), Dominic Finocchio (rear cover), Ivor Sexton, Peter Bowles, Richard Claraval, and Lyubomir Naydenov. There is also an article about Henry Scott Tuke by art historian Grady Harp to round out this fine edition. The directory includes all artists featured in all previous editions of The Art of Man.
We expect the book to be available in May.

Though our books will ALWAYS be available as printed physical books, we are currently preparing all our titles as eBooks, available internationally, first through Kindle, then iTunes, and the Nook soon. The first 3 uploads are here at a huge 69% discount, because there is no physical book to print, package, or ship.
This quarterly e-Book seeks to bring balance to a genre of art that overwhelmingly favors the female figure. We feature artists that are courageous enough to focus on the male figure as a significant portion of their portfolio. We bring you in-depth interviews into their thought processes, choice...
As of January 2014, "The Art of Man" will not be accepting NEW subscriptions. Current subscriptions will continue until they run out.
Those who have supported our series will receive quarterly updates, and a special, unpublished discount code to order issues individually and defray the costs of shipping. Amazon however, being the large resource it is, can sometimes still beat this price so we suggest you look there as well. Direct sales via Amazon and Createspace have been doubling every year, even sales in Europe, but Amazon's ability to undercut our pricing is making subscriptions unsustainable.
As subscriptions phase out, we will be re-building our books in "E-Format." Though we prefer printed books, e-books outsell paper books by a large margin, and we cannot ignore this potential market.
If you have any questions, please use the Contact link at the top left of this page. We thank you for your support.
Vitruvian Lens strives to discover and showcase photographers with a fine art approach to the male figure in their work. We offer a non-erotic option to those who love figurative art with an international point of view. Out in-depth interviews explore their thought processes, choices, and struggles…
Art of Man Edition #16 has been roughed together and is in the hands of the artists to make our first round of edits. The artists are set and you can see them listed on the cover, a very diverse bunch from all over the globe AND with a broad representation of the male figure of all shapes and sizes: even some hefty guys in this one! ;-)
