Early morning activity has stabilized and cooled the air across the Panhandles today, unfortunately lessening the likelihood of another round later this afternoon. However, additional activity moving in from the west may still bring a chance for precipitation later tonight.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT — SCAM ALERT
The Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing telephone scam involving fake arrest warrants.
We have received reports of scammers calling individuals and claiming they have an active warrant for their arrest. The caller may threaten that law enforcement will come to their home or workplace and take them to jail unless they immediately pay money over the phone.
The Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you and demand or collect payment over the phone for a warrant, fine, bond, or any other reason.
Legitimate arrest warrants are issued through the appropriate court. Any fines, fees, or other payments associated with a court matter are handled through the court or court clerk using authorized payment procedures. Sheriff's Office personnel will not demand payment over the phone to prevent an arrest.
Scammers may attempt to make the call appear legitimate by using the names of actual law enforcement officers, spoofing local telephone numbers, or creating a sense of urgency. Do not provide personal, banking, credit card, or payment information to these callers.
If you receive one of these calls:
Do not send money or provide payment information.
Do not provide personal or financial information.
Do not allow threats or pressure to rush you into making a payment.
Hang up and independently contact the appropriate court or the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office if you have concerns about whether a warrant is legitimate.
Please share this information with family members, friends, and especially anyone who may be vulnerable to these types of scams.
Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office
Protecting our community through awareness and prevention.
