At first I thought that I just dug a small piece of lead in wood..but A friend said “hey that’s a buckle in that wood” (Adam Clapp) and sure enough.. It Is! Possible knapsack buckle …cool find and now to preserve the iron then wood without tearing it up! 🤔

Remnants of civil war camp life in Eastport, Ms. Relics include dropped Spencer, head to a Maynard cartridge, button portion of j hook, ration can pieces, iron belly pot piece , cool Buckle in wood , buck shot, and the ole square nails .. history saved!
