"The NWSL Boston team name needed to go before the presidential election, and it definitely needs to go after. The longer the ownership group waits, the worse the situation gets, squandering any goodwill from its expectant local fan base."

“I think we need a bigger stadium,” Everett told GBH Morning Edition co-host Paris Alston. “It’s a great sign of how much enthusiasm there is for women’s sports across the region.” Laura Everett of Boston Women's Sports said to Paris Allston of GBH News “This is also, unfortunately, a consequence of artificial market suppression,” she said. “There are so many women who have been playing so long, but really haven’t received all of the investment and support. … Leagues, investors, the infrastructure just hasn’t been there.”

The PWHL’s success is a policy victory of Title IX, writes Joyce Linehan in Commonwealth Magazine.

“Wednesday night in Lowell, PWHL’s Boston and Minneapolis teams will play the deciding game for the inaugural league championship. The game, at the 6,500-person capacity Tsongas Arena, is sold out. There are a handful of tickets on the resale sites, and they cost thousands of dollars.

The excitement about this is a testament to the power of legislation and policy to change lives.”

SUDDENLY, THERE is a lot of interest in and support for women’s college and professional team sports.

New Story Up!

"...Apparently though, no one told two of the top goalkeepers in the league, and two US Women’s National Hockey team goalies that this would be a defensive battle. And it wasn’t. Boston won 4-3, managing not to go into overtime for the first time in four games.

This is not the game anyone expected.

Perhaps except Coach Courtney Kessel.

“Our plan was not to change our game plan,” Coach Kessel said after the game..."

Recap/ preview by Laura Everett as we head to Lowell for Game One of : What is PWHL Boston playing for?

After the game, ’s Coach Kessel responded, “You read those articles, and ( Coach) Kori is telling us that we’re lucky. She’s using that as motivation for her team, that we celebrated too hard in the third overtime goal. You know they’re coming in for blood.”

What are we playing for?

If another coach gifts you such fuel for your fire, that your team is celebrating too hard after winning? That you’re just “lucky?” You take her quote, blow it up to 300 pt font, and tape it to each and every locker of your players. You are playing to prove them wrong. You are playing to make them eat each and every one of their words.

You are playing for even more ice time into the finals."
