We were completely caught off guard and honored this week when we were notified by the Nicholas Lodge Legacy Foundation, Inc. that they had chosen the 2026 Simi Sugar Splash Retreat as their next scholarship for an All Access Retreat Ticket.
The Foundation is dedicated to supporting the continued education and advancement of sugar artists. Their mission is to nurture creativity, skill, and passion by providing scholarships throughout the year. By investing in the next generation of sugar artists, they carry forward Chef Nicholas Lodge’s enduring legacy of excellence, generosity, and dedication to the art form he so deeply loved.
Chef Nicholas Lodge was a founding member of the Simi Sugar Splash Retreat that started 5 years ago. We were in the planning stages of year 2 of the Retreat when he toured the new location and vision for moving forward. He had so many wonderful ideas we have implemented, and he was so excited to return when the world lost our favorite Green Tornado. We are honored that a truly deserving sugar artist will be chosen as the recipient of the scholarship in his name for an event that was so close to his heart.

Award Amounts
-Scholarships will be awarded for an All-Access Pass for the Simi Sugar Splash 2026 Retreat.
Eligible Use of Funds
- Funds must be used only for an All Access Pass for the Simi Sugar Splash 2026 Retreat.
- Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the event organizers.
- No cash disbursements will be made to recipients.
Retreat Guidelines
- Scholarships are non-refundable once applied to an All-Access Pass.
- If the recipient cannot attend, the scholarship may be awarded to another eligible person at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
Eligibility
Open to individuals at all levels—beginner to professional—who are actively pursuing education and growth in the pastry and sugar arts field and wish to attend the Simi Sugar Splash 2026 Retreat.
Application Requirements
- Applicants must complete and submit all required forms.
- A personal statement is required, describing why the applicant wishes to attend the retreat and how it will benefit their growth in pastry and sugar arts.
- Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Additional Notes
- Scholarships are awarded based on passion, purpose, and commitment to the sugar arts.
- Final decisions are made by the scholarship committee and are not subject to appeal.
-Scholarship covers tuition only. It does not include travel, lodging, and meal expenses, except for Thursday's banquet dinner.
