GRILLED FLANK STEAK WITH BALSAMIC SOY MARINADE: A TASTY ADVENTURE
Ingredients:
Marinade Ingredients:
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional, for a kick)
Steak Ingredients:
1.5 to 2 lbs flank steak
Salt and pepper, as needed
Fresh parsley or rosemary to garnish (optional)
Lemon wedges to serve
Instructions:
Step 1: Mix the Marinade
Combine the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, olive oil, honey, minced garlic, mustard, black pepper, and chili flakes in a bowl or resealable bag. Stir until everything is evenly blended.
Step 2: Marinate the Steak
Add the flank steak to the marinade, ensuring it's fully coated. Seal and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, turning the steak once or twice so the flavors soak in.
Step 3: Get the Grill Ready
Take the steak out of the marinade and let it come to room temperature for about 15–20 minutes. Heat up your grill or a grill pan to medium-high and brush the grates with oil.
Step 4: Cook the Steak
Grill the steak 4–6 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or a bit longer if you like it more done. Be careful not to overcook, as flank steak can get tough.
Step 5: Let the Steak Rest and Slice
Put the cooked steak on a cutting board, loosely cover it with foil, and let it sit for 5–10 minutes. Slice it thinly across the grain for the best texture.
Step 6: Serving Time
Arrange the steak slices on a platter, top with fresh herbs, and add a squeeze of lemon. This dish goes especially well with roasted vegetables, a fresh salad, or creamy mashed potatoes.
Prep Time: 10 minutes (excluding marinating period)
Total Time: 30 minutes (not counting marination)
