I remember just yelling along to the beat in my empty kitchen with the verse lyrics, and then rushing down to the basement to my looping pedal to work out the way the chord changes and bass line could layer on top of one another throughout the song and be static while still creating tension. I got some friends, @BrianHurlow and @Maxsaxes from truly the best band, @Carrollmusic, together to produce and record it, and we went to the woods to finish it up. Adding layers to the initial drum loop really unlocked something vicious at the bridge, and when we arrived at recording guitar for it, I remember look at Max—a fantastic, sensitive and subtle guitar player—and telling him, “Play this part as though you have never played a guitar before, but you’re going to try and SHRED for the first time.” I hope you like it.
