🦷✨ July 1st - the official start of dental residency for these amazing individuals who have worked tirelessly to reach this moment. Watching their dedication, unstoppable efforts, and unwavering commitment has been truly inspiring.

From interview prep to match day celebrations, they’ve shown what it means to pursue excellence in dentistry. Now they’re ready to dive deep into their specialties and make their mark on the profession we all love.

Still missing some of my mentees who have not shared their photos yet- but I just couldn’t wait to celebrate today’s milestone with all.

That last photo? Me during my first week in Prosthodontics Residency back in July 2012. Time flies when you’re passionate about what you do! Here’s to new beginnings, endless learning, and the next generation of dental specialists. So proud of each of you!

Graduation is no far from my favorite time of the year in academia and I’ve had the honor to be part of the journey of this amazing individuals, and seeing their transformation from aspiring candidates to doctoral graduates in the US is pure magic.

They didn’t just earn their American degrees - they conquered every challenge, pushed through every doubt, and proved that with dedication and the right support, anything is possible. These brilliant minds are about to change lives, one smile at a time.

To anyone still chasing their dreams: this is your reminder that the path may be long, but the destination is worth every step. Your future patients are lucky to have you!

📧 Mastering Professional Email Etiquette 📧

Crafting a well-written email can set you apart in the admissions world, but overall may increase your professional opportunities, when a poor email may create negative biases and decrease your influence.

Here are some essential tips to ensure your emails hit the right note:
1️⃣ Use a Professional Email Address: Avoid witty screen names. Opt for your official email or create a professional one using your first and last name.
2️⃣ Formal Salutations Matter: Always start with a formal greeting like “Dear Mr./Ms./Professor” unless told otherwise. Quick tip: If unsure of pronouns, a Google search can help!
3️⃣ Clear Subject Lines: Keep it concise and specific. Mention relevant details like your class or purpose, e.g., “Information About Preceptorship Program.”
4️⃣ Be Clear and Polite: State your purpose clearly. When emailing professionals, doctors, admissions officers, clearly state who you are and what you need.
5️⃣ Proofread: Ensure your email is free of spelling errors and is written in complete sentences. Avoid using all caps.
6️⃣ Sign Off with a Thank You: Courtesy goes a long way. End with “thank you” or “best” followed by your full name.
7️⃣ Strong Email Signature: Include your name, major, school, and graduation year. Limit to 3-4 lines and include professional social media links.

Remember, emails are permanent, so be thoughtful about what you send. If it’s too complex, consider a face-to-face chat. ✨

The POWER of MENTORSHIP!

Celebrating by giving value and appreciation to the constellation of mentors that have made me who I am today.

In ancient Greece, the goddess Athena disguised herself as Mentor to guide Telemachus on his quest to find his father Odysseus. Three millennia later, that name has become synonymous with the wise guides who shape our journeys.

True mentors are more than just advice-givers in our network. They’re the rare individuals who become our thinking partners, challenging us to break through self-imposed limits and see possibilities we hadn’t imagined. They speak hard truths when we need to hear them, celebrate our wins, and give us courage to take those first uncertain steps toward our dreams.

Looking back at my own path, I’m deeply grateful for the mentors who’ve invested in my growth - both those I’ve known personally and those who’ve guided me through their work and wisdom from afar. Their impact ripples through every milestone, every pivot, every leap of faith.

Here’s to the mentors who help us navigate our own odysseys, who push us to think bigger, and who light the way forward.
