Am I the a__hole for refusing to make my son who will be 10 in may share a birthday party with my niece by marriage. My Husband and I have been together for 7 years and in those 7 years I asked my son if he minded doing a shared party with my niece to which he always said he didn't mind and I normally pay for the entire party myself but their birthdays are days apart and my MIL has custody of her granddaughter so I have always asked if they wanted to do the party together and she always says yes and then something happens and she can't cover her half of the party so I just pay for it to keep the peace well this week I asked my son what he wants for his party this year and his only response was to have his OWN party because you only turn 10 once to which I said okay done my MIL asked today what are plans was for their party for this year to which I replied that he wants his own party but I hadn't set any plans in place yet and she asked why because it's not fair for him to get a party without her and I told her that's what he asked for and we hung up the phone and she called my husband to tell him what I had said and now my husband is mad and says my son (his step son) is spoiled and a brat and if he doesn't want to share a party he can't have one at all, so would I be an a__hole if I planed his party without the niece or my husband?

So some background is needed here; I'm 19M and have worked at the leisure centre in my town since I was 16. It has a gym, a pool, a function room/hall and a café. Up until recently my job was cleaning the gym and hall and working in/cleaning the café, but obviously it's been closed for a while and I've been on furlough. Thing is my parents' house is very toxic and it reached a point where I had to get out, which I couldn't afford to do on furlough alone. I took on two new cleaning jobs to cover my living expenses. The leisure centre opened again last week, all apart from the café part, and I realised just how much I'd be juggling now between work and uni. Since the two new jobs pay significantly better than this one, but I can use all the extra hours I can squeeze in, I elected to stop working in the café when it reopens because I think those hours will tip it over into "too many" territory. I told this to one of the two café managers and she said that's fine. So, the issue; this morning the other café manager messaged me about reopening and stuff and asking if I'm okay to work the same hours I was before. I replied saying: "Sorry I think there's been some missed communication. I told [other manager] I won't be working the café any more as I've got two other jobs now and it's just too many hours". She was...not happy. She began complaining to me that the café is short staffed as is and they don't have another cleaner on hand to do it. At one point in my life I'd have folded and said I'd do it but I'm trying...

About 9 months ago, I (22 F) accidentally became pregnant with my (21 M) boyfriend's child. Neither of us were in a position to be raising a child, but a cousin of my boyfriend (who we'll call F) is having trouble conceiving. She and her husband (34 F and 35 M) have been trying for a baby for five years, and she's had multiple incredibly traumatic miscarriages in the process. Recently, F has come to terms with the fact that she's unable to have kids, as just confirmed by her doctor. When she heard of my pregnancy, her and her husband approached me and my boyfriend with an offer: F wants a baby that's biologically related to her, but she's unable to have children. But because she's related to my boyfriend, my baby will also be related to her. She said that if I carry this child to term and let her adopt it, she'll help pay for me and my boyfriend's college tuitions. Me and my boyfriend discussed it, and we eventually came to an agreement. With the help of a lawyer, we drew up a contract, allowing her to adopt the baby in turn for her giving us a sum of money enough to pay for the tuition of our chosen college's. The next nine months were surprisingly easy; F and her husband helped financially support us throughout the pregnancy, and my boyfriend was incredibly supportive too. When the due date eventually came, everything went as planned; I went to the hospital, got an epidural, and hours later the baby was out. A perfectly healthy baby girl. I (26F) am getting married in two months. My parents divorced when I was 12, and my mom (52F) raised me as a single parent for a long time. I always imagined her walking me down the aisle, and she’s known this for years. The issue is, she started dating a guy (58M) about six months ago. He’s fine, but we’re not close at all. Last week, she told me she thinks it would be “symbolic” if he walked me down the aisle with her, since he’s “stepping into the father role I never had.” I told her absolutely not, that moment is for her and me. She got upset and said I was being ungrateful and “rejecting her happiness.” She even cried about it in front of my fiancé and said I was “trying to erase” her partner from my life.
