Did You Know Robert Redford’s Son Was Also a Powerful Voice for Change?
Many people know Robert Redford as a legendary actor and filmmaker but not everyone knows the inspiring story of his son, James “Jamie” Redford.
Jamie Redford was born on May 5, 1962, and just like his father, he pursued a meaningful career in film. But instead of acting, Jamie focused on directing powerful documentaries that tackled real-world issues like dyslexia, resilience, and environmental justice.
Beyond film, he co-founded The Redford Center, a non-profit that uses storytelling to inspire environmental change. He believed in using media as a tool for healing and activism.
Sadly, Jamie passed away on October 16, 2020, at the age of 58. His cause of death was bile duct cancer in the liver (cholangiocarcinoma). He had struggled with liver-related health issues since childhood and had undergone two liver transplants in the past.
Though he may not have lived in the spotlight like his father, Jamie left a legacy of compassion, truth, and powerful storytelling that continues to impact lives.
