During this year’s Blank Skate Project, I linked up with Ryan Turner, co-founder of the North Dakota Skateboard Association, for a full behind-the-scenes tour of The Hawks Nest — a DIY indoor skatepark that’s as gritty and heartfelt as skateboarding itself.
This place isn’t just about ramps — it’s about community.
✔️ Outdoor ramps that travel to events
✔️ Custom-built mini ramp with elliptical transitions
✔️ Local art nodding to Fargo skate history
✔️ Free BBQs, all-ages skate nights, and inclusive programming
✔️ A vision to expand and triple the size of the park
🎨 Shot during the Blank Skate Project — where skate decks become art, the parking lot turns into a skate contest, and four bands light up the patio.
💬 Whether you’re a street skater, ramp rat, or just love DIY culture, this tour will leave you stoked on what’s possible when a small, committed community rallies together.
🎥 Watch now and support their vision for Hawks Nest 3.0.
🙏 Big ups to all the builders, artists, bands, and volunteers making it real.
