We made it to Paris! 🇫🇷❤️

What a way to arrive—our ship has a great view of the Eiffel Tower! 🗼We are also excited to be on a brand new Viking ship just 3 months old.

⏰ We were determined to stay awake and get ourselves on Europe time, so instead of giving in to the jet lag, we started walking! We made our way to the Eiffel Tower and then on to the Arc de Triomphe, taking in Paris along the way.

By the end of the night, we had walked 5 miles! 😳👟 But the best part was getting to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle after dark. ✨🗼 There’s just something magical about seeing it light up at night, and it was the perfect way to end our first day in Paris.

Now I think we’ve definitely earned a good night’s sleep!

Sometimes it's the little things that make a BIG difference on a cruise! 🛳️

One thing I was ridiculously happy to find onboard my Silversea cruise? A self-service laundry room! 🧺

It may not be the most exciting cruise amenity, but when you're traveling for an extended period of time, being able to throw in a load of laundry without sending everything out to be cleaned is such a nice perk.

I also loved being able to iron my clothes! Having access to an iron and ironing board made it so easy to freshen up my wrinkled outfits and look put together without having to pay for pressing services. I think I used it every day! 😂

🛳️ These are exactly the kinds of details I pay attention to when I cruise. The restaurants and destinations are important, of course, but sometimes it's the smaller conveniences that can really change your experience.

And it's also why I love experiencing different cruise lines firsthand. I can tell you the things you might never think to ask about before you book!

So yes...l'm excited about a laundry room. t And if you're an overpacker trying to reform like me, you probably understand! 😂😂

Another Gaudí masterpiece checked off the Barcelona list! 🇪🇸✨

🏞️ Park Güell was originally designed by Antoni Gaudí in the early 1900s as part of a planned residential community commissioned by Eusebi Güell. The project was intended to include around 60 private homes, but only two houses were completed. One of them, known as the Casa Museu Gaudí, became Gaudí’s home from 1906 to 1925 and is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. The other, Casa Trias, remains a private residence.

🏞️ Although the housing project never really took off, the incredible space Gaudí created was preserved and eventually became a public park. Today, the property includes the monumental zone with the beautiful mosaic benches and famous entrance pavilions, the colorful Dragon Stairway, the Hypostyle Room, the Nature Square and the winding viaducts and pathways. Park Güell is also part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrating Gaudí’s work.

🎨 The colorful mosaics, unusual architecture, winding pathways and beautiful views over Barcelona make it an interesting place to visit.

My biggest tip? Go when it’s cooler! ☀️😅 There’s a lot of walking, hills and not nearly as much shade as you might expect. Early morning or later in the day would definitely make the experience more enjoyable. Pre-buy your tickets since it can get crowded.

It would be so easy to visit Barcelona and completely miss Barcelona Cathedral! 🇪🇸⛪️

With the incredible Sagrada Família getting so much attention, and rightfully so, Barcelona Cathedral can sometimes get overshadowed. But this is one stop you definitely shouldn’t skip!

Located right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the cathedral is beautiful inside, but one of my favorite parts was going up to the rooftop. The views over Barcelona were amazing, and you can even see the Sagrada Família rising above the city in the distance. Such a different perspective! 😍

And the location makes it even better. The Gothic Quarter is one of the coolest areas of Barcelona to wander—narrow medieval streets, little squares, shops, cafés, and beautiful architecture around every corner.

Travel tip: Don’t just visit the famous sights everyone knows. Sometimes the places that get overshadowed by the “big” attractions end up being some of your favorite experiences.

You simply can’t visit Barcelona without seeing the Sagrada Família! 🇪🇸⛪️

Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece is unlike anything else—from the intricate details on the outside to the way the colorful stained-glass windows completely transform the interior.

✨ My biggest tip: BUY YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE!

The Sagrada Família is one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions, and tickets—especially the best time slots and tower tickets—can sell out. This is not something I would recommend waiting to book once you arrive in Barcelona.
Barcelona is a city where a little advance planning makes a BIG difference. This is exactly why I encourage my clients not to wait until they arrive to figure out what they want to see.

If you are in Barcelona, you definitely need to experience the work of Antoni Gaudí—and Casa Batlló was one of my favorites! 🇪🇸✨

Located right in the heart of Barcelona on Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Batlló looks like something straight out of a fairytale. 🏠

The building was originally constructed in 1877, but in 1904, businessman Josep Batlló hired Antoni Gaudí to completely redesign it. Instead of tearing it down, Gaudí transformed it into the incredible masterpiece we see today.

And there is truly nothing ordinary about it!

Gaudí was famous for taking inspiration from nature rather than straight lines, and you see that everywhere here—from the flowing walls and colorful mosaics to the unusual windows and beautiful stained glass. Even the rooftop is a work of art, with its famous curved, tiled roof often said to resemble the back of a dragon. 🐉

Casa Batlló is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site recognizing several of Gaudí’s works, and walking through it gives you an entirely different appreciation for just how creative and ahead of his time he was.

One of the things I love about Barcelona is that Gaudí’s architecture isn’t tucked away in a museum—it’s part of the city itself. You can walk down the street and suddenly find yourself standing in front of something extraordinary.

If Barcelona is on your travel list, make sure Casa Batlló is on your itinerary—and book your tickets ahead of time! 🇪🇸

You simply can’t visit Barcelona without seeing the Sagrada Família! 🇪🇸⛪️ Pictures really don’t prepare you for just how spectacular it is in person. Gaudí’s incredible design, the soaring columns, intricate details, and the way the colorful light pours through the stained-glass windows are absolutely breathtaking.

We also decided to go up the Nativity Tower for a completely different view of the basilica and Barcelona. An elevator takes you most of the way up, but here’s the part you need to know—you come back down via about 400 steps on a narrow, winding spiral staircase! 😳

The views and experience were amazing, but I definitely would NOT recommend the tower portion if you’re claustrophobic or uncomfortable with tight spaces and lots of stairs. I’m glad we did it…but those stairs were an experience all their own! 😂

The Sagrada Família is one of those places that truly deserves a spot on your Barcelona must-see list. ❤️.

Valencia was one of our favorite ports!
We loved the old city and spent all our time there.

You can’t visit this part of Spain without talking about the oranges! 🍊 Valencia is famous for its citrus groves and orange trees throughout the city.

One of our stops was La Lonja de la Seda (Silk Exchange), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture in Valencia. Built during the city’s prosperous silk-trading era, the soaring twisted columns inside were incredible. (That needs a post of its own!)

We also wandered through the Central Market, one of my favorite kinds of places to visit when traveling. It’s filled with colorful displays of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, seafood and local specialties—and it gives you such a great glimpse into everyday life here. We tried the orange juice here.

Of course, Valencia also has some beautiful churches and cathedrals. Valencia Cathedral is especially fascinating because it incorporates several architectural styles from different periods of the city’s history. It’s also home to a chalice that tradition holds may be the Holy Grail.

Between the historic buildings, gorgeous cathedrals, bustling market and orange trees everywhere, Valencia gave us another completely different look at Spain. ❤️.

Another new Spanish city to explore, and Alicante was such a fun surprise!

We wandered along the beautiful mosaic promenade, Explanada de España, with its incredible wave-patterned pavement made from millions of tiny marble tiles. It’s one of those places that immediately makes you want to stop and take pictures. 📸

Then we headed to one of Alicante’s quirkiest little streets—Mushroom Street! 🍄 Giant colorful mushrooms line the pedestrian street, making it feel a little like you’ve stepped into a storybook. Definitely not something I expected to find in Spain!

We also made sure to see Santa Barbara castle so we had a tuk tuk takes us there.

The castle dates back centuries, and from up there you get some incredible views over the city, marina and Mediterranean Sea. 🏰🌊
Once again, we were the only ship in port. It is so nice to be on a small ship to access small ports!
