Back story: The husband and I shared a closet until the youngest child graduated 10 years ago. I kept the MBR closet as the years progressed. Unfortunately, one hanging rod fell some time ago, so we utilized temporary adjustments for hanging and shelving. Being the borderline packrat that I am, I accumulated a "few" things which made it difficult to organize.
Fast forward to September 2025 ๐
Him: Surprise! We are going to remodel your closet!
Me: YES!!!! (Over-the-moon excited, because this has been at least four years in the making) ๐๐ฟ
Him: We have to take everything out. We need it completely emptied by ๐

The project just became overwhelming. Now I am wondering ๐ค How do I... where do I.... ๐ญ

Took me about three days to mentally process, then I finally started the removal of stuff. I'm honestly uncertain how many days it took to get the closet empty, but we made it happen. Now the sorting, because the new closet will be pointless and unattractive if all this mess goes right back inside.

We won't even talk about the variety of sizes ๐ to choose from. I discovered garments that I thought were gone years ago. The number of never worn items, some with tags ๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ humbled me to the point that I dare not indulge in retail therapy any time soon, not in-person nor online.
If you happen to see a post for Sharon's Boutique, just send a couple of customers my way. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ฝ๐๐
I've been a civilian for 21 years, and NOW I realize one of the benefits in moving every 2-3 years. We were forced to purge before moving on to the next duty station, because it made no sense hauling excess stuff across the country or abroad only to chunk it in a closet and never use it.
Has anyone else engaged in the task of completely emptying and sorting a closet? I've done bite-sized pieces in recent years, but never on this level! This sort of project is NOT for the weak!
