Lisa Arpin, Branford's town clerk for the last 12 years, has informed the Board of Selectmen that she will "conclude her service to the town" when her term concludes next week.

Her official term ends January 5.

"I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by the electors in Branford these last 12 years," she wrote in her notice. "I wish you every success as you continue to serve Branford in the years ahead."

Arpin was an integral part of the success of the Cosgrove administration, seeing many upgrades in service and community outreach during her tenure, and she remains a huge asset to Branford.

Thank you Lisa!

Press Release
December 30, 2025
On December 29, 2025, at approximately 6:29 PM, North Branford Police Officers responded to the Northford Ice Pavilion, located at 24 Firelite Place, Northford, for a report of a physical altercation between a coach and a parent.
The investigation revealed that following the conclusion of a youth hockey game, an argument occurred in the hallway outside a locker room. The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation and was reportedly related to dissatisfaction over the amount of playing time the parent’s juvenile child received during the game.
As a result of the investigation, both parties were arrested and charged with Breach of Peace in the Second Degree. They were released on a Promise to Appear in New Haven Superior Court on January 13, 2026.

The individuals arrested are:
• Joseph Desmarais, age 46, of Scituate, Rhode Island
• Brian Lacombe, age 50, of West Warwick, Rhode Island

The North Branford Police Department maintains a zero-tolerance policy for physical altercations involving parents and coaches at youth sporting events.

All arrests are subject to judicial review and determination in a court of law. The information presented is based on probable cause and does not constitute a conviction.
