UPDATE: Woman and two dogs are dead after a fire in Deerfield.

NEWS RELEASE: ONE PERSON DECEASED FOLLOWING RESIDENTIAL FIRE IN DEERFIELD
DEERFIELD, N.H. – New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey and Deerfield Fire Chief Matt Fisher announce a joint investigation is underway following a residential fire. One person is deceased.
Just before 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, members of the Deerfield Fire Department responded to 201 Nottingham Road in Deerfield to investigate a report of a residential fire. A neighbor indicated they heard “explosions” and then saw intense flames coming from the home.
The first arriving firefighters reported heavy fire coming from the left and rear of the home and began efforts to extinguish the flames. During their initial efforts, firefighters received information that an adult female lived in the home. Search efforts were attempted, but crews were unable to locate her.
A second alarm was later declared and mutual aid assistance was requested. Firefighters from the communities of Nottingham, Candia, Raymond, Chester, Allenstown, Pembroke, Lee, Strafford, Durham, Brentwood, East Kingston, Epping, Fremont, Barrington, Northwood, and Auburn responded. Members of the Deerfield Police Department and Raymond Ambulance also assisted before the fire was determined to be under control at 2:26 a.m.
Once the fire was knocked down, during a search of the home and debris from the fire, members of the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office located the body of an adult female on a porch. The victim, who investigators believe is the resident of the home, will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to verify their identity and confirm their cause and manner of death. Two dogs were also recovered deceased.
No other residents or firefighters were injured. The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Deerfield Fire Department are actively investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
