Who remember the creepy Empire Style house on 361 Barnum Ave Bridgeport. I remember going there as a kid to see Dr. Dugas, I believe that’s where Dr. Dugas practice was at! Hopefully I’m not wrong! I remember it was always a creepy experience there 😩
The massive house was originally built in 1868 for Claudius R. Hayward, who was a real estate developer and a contractor for the Wheeler & Wilson Company, manufacturers of sewing machines. When it comes to classic clam shacks, there is no better place on earth to find one than in Connecticut. My favorite one is Johnny Ad's on the Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook. Their whole belly clam rolls are out of this world, I do like clam strips but whole belly clams clams stand out for their sweetness, crunchiness, and overall full-clam flavor. Try one and you will be hooked.
