Yesterday, BARC CT had the incredible honor of participating in Fur Baby Catwalk 2026 during New York Fashion Week, and we are still overwhelmed with gratitude for this opportunity.
First and foremost, thank you to Elysian Impact for their incredible philanthropic work and for creating and hosting such a wonderful event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for animals in need. Events like this shine a much-needed spotlight on animal rescue and give organizations like ours an opportunity to share our mission with an entirely new audience. We are truly grateful to have been included.
And to model Denise Cuccia, thank you for choosing BARC CT as your rescue of choice. Being invited to be part of an event of this magnitude was an incredible honor, and we are so grateful that you believed in our mission and wanted to shine a light on the dogs we work so hard to save.
And to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who voted for us, shared our posts, encouraged us, cheered us on, and stood behind BARC CT — THANK YOU. ❤️
We did not win the $20,000 People’s Choice Award, but we truly feel like winners because of YOU.
We were up against a massive animal rescue organization from Florida, and yet our little rescue from Connecticut held our own right up until the very end. That says so much about the incredible community that surrounds BARC CT. Every vote represented someone believing in what we do. Every share helped introduce someone new to our mission. Every message of encouragement reminded us that we are not doing this alone.
We are also incredibly proud of our superstar, Emy, for representing BARC CT. ✨🐶
Emy has overcome unimaginable circumstances to become the amazing, joyful, beautiful dog she is today. Her story is exactly why we do what we do. She represents the resilience of rescue dogs everywhere and reminds us that, with love, patience, and a chance, these animals can overcome so much.
We hope that Emy’s presence on that runway helped the world see what we see every day: rescue dogs are extraordinary.
