Wrap up the year with a Waterbury Woof Pack CT shelter dog. Waterbury is notorious for abandoned dogs, some of the saddest cases we’ve ever encountered have been in the city of Waterbury. Perhaps make 2026 the year you adopt a Waterbury shelter dog and thankfully, Woofpack volunteers will help you through the process. ✨✨✨

Cassie LOL 🤣 🐔 🎄

Not too long ago this sweet, playful girl was tied to a pole in Waterbury, braved nights in the freezing rain while giving birth alone—-still tied to that pole. It’s so sad to think about 😞 but incredibly comforting to see her becoming a dog again♥️ Thank you Lisa S and Spot-On K9 Training ✨✨✨

Clarence wanted to thank everybody who purchased his Wishlist items 🥹♥️ He’s not feeling great and he’s headed back to the vet today. His foster mom, Robin is treating him with the most loving care he’s ever received. We’ll continue to update about his progress. Please keep this sweet old man in your thoughts and prayers. No being should ever endure what humans inflicted upon animals—fighting them, neglecting them, wearing them, eating them. There is no difference in harm and intent bears no distinction to a defenseless creature. 🙏🏼 ♥️

+++COURTESY POST +++ was discovred living outside in a crate 24/7 never let out of the crate. Fed table scraps through the crate. It’s freezing out. Thankfully a neighbor was finally able to convince owner to give her Coco 😢🥹 (((see video in comments)))

Cat friendly? - YES, LOVES CATS and sleeps on my bed with the two cats. Shes very sweet

Kid friendly? She’s been around my 2 1/2 year old with no issues. She plays well.

House trained? She very good with p*e pads and learning to go outside, this is because she was kept inside a tiny crate OUTSIDE 24/7 and being fed tablescraps. She was never allowed outside of that outdoor crate. 💔😢

Knows commands? - She understands sit and lay.

Energy Level? - great

Reason for Surrender - Coco isn’t mine, the woman who had her was keeping her outside in a crate feeding her table scraps. I took her in to get her to safety but i cannot keep her. She is a wonderful dog and in desperate yo find her a forever home immediately

Any special details - She’s a sweet, funny, loving dog. I’m glad I got her out of where she was. Whoever gets her will be extremely lucky.

🎅🏻🎄CHRISTMAS WISHLIST: Brandon

Brandon’s only been partially introduced because when we rescued him (from an awful situation), he was in need of a very concentrated Decompression period. A totally structured shut-down. In fact, following BARC’s Decompression protocol is was turned his whole life around. That, and the amazing humans who helped get him safely into our care. Rescue is only possible when we have a dedicated foster who understands the importance of commitment! If you’re lucky enough to become a foster for BARC CT, you know we require a “no matter what” mindset, and nothing less—because thats what our dogs deserve! 🙏🏼😭✨

We’ll do a formal introduction soon, but in the meantime, please consider helping us make his Christmas 🎄special. He deserves the world 🥹♥️ 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Got a real tree? December 26 arrives. Wait!
Before you drag that Christmas tree to the curb…
It could still be saving lives in your backyard.

A tossed tree can become:

🌲 A winter hideout — branches break the wind and give ground-feeding birds a place to ride out storms

🌲 A warm pocket of air — evergreens trap heat and cut harsh wind chill

🌲 A built-in feeding hub — hang seed ornaments and birds will flock to it

🌲 A refuge for small mammals — rabbits, chipmunks, and others shelter underneath during rough weather

Why it matters now:

Wildlife faces the hardest conditions after the holidays—deep cold, less food, and fewer hiding places

Many real trees are tossed just as January brings the most dangerous weather

Give your tree a second job:

✓ Lay it on the ground as shelter

✓ Prop it against a fence for a quick A-frame refuge

✓ Add extra branches to build a small brush pile

✓ Turn it into a feeder station

✓ Leave it until spring, then chip it or recycle through your city

The holiday will be over soon, but your tree can have purpose for many more weeks.
