Get out and VOTE! The consistently has the LOWEST voter turnout and then we complain about who we end up with for the next four years. You cannot expect or want change yet not make an effort to vote.

Rest in Power, Danny Chervoni!

The lost a local giant. Anyone who went to in knew Danny where he dedicated so much of his time not for himself but for the betterment of our community and to teach others and the next generation on how to be better stewards of our lands and environment.

He was always eager to teach and impart knowledge just as willingly he was ready to march alongside community members and use his voice against injustices like environmental inequality and gentrification in our communities.

Danny wasn't someone who waited to do what needed to be done and would simply do it himself if he had to.

The won't be the same without you but at least we have Brook Park to remember you fondly.

views interrupted in The .

Once upon a time, you could see the glittering Manhattan skyline from the 149th and 146th street bridges over the Metro North tracks but now, since the waterfront has been developed over the past few years with half a dozen 25 story towers, those views are practically gone.

Did you know that the Rev. T Wendell Foster Park (formerly Mullaly Park) was named after The 's first Black elected official?

Born in a small and fully segregated town in Alabama in 1924, Foster arrived in New York City at the age of 13 without a dime to his name and no parents with only hope in his heart that life up north would be better.

He would eventually settle in The Bronx in the Highbridge section of the borough and in 1978, after running for office three times, he succeeded in becoming The Bronx's first Black elected official and served in the New York City Council for 24 years.

In an interview with the New York Times in 2009, he said, "The Bronx has not come far enough. When your schools are still overcrowded and undermanned, and teachers are not properly trained or adequately paid, I don’t see the situation getting any better. I’d like to believe things are getting better. Maybe they are and I just don’t see it."

16 years later and almost 6 since his passing in 2019, his words still ring true.
