A lawsuit filed this week says that years of water leaks and inadequate maintenance led to health issues and the eventual closure of the arts school on Cleveland's West Side.

Cleveland Heights' police chief on Tuesday accused Mayor Kahlil Seren of making false and “slanderous” statements about his department last week, after officers detained Seren’s wife on suspicion of trespassing inside a historic mansion with a “Recall Seren” sign in the front yard.

“Retaliation is a very real threat in this administration in Cleveland Heights City Hall...Nonetheless, someone needs to say something.”

House Bill 96, the two-year state budget law Gov. Mike DeWine signed in late June, specified that special purpose fees and service charges “shall not be applied uniformly to all enrolled students,” CSU spokeswoman Kristin Broka said. She also said fewer than 50% of CSU students had a U-Pass sticker.

Students now face $95 monthly transit costs instead of $57.50 per semester fee as CSU becomes the only local college to withdraw from the long-running program.

Firefighters extinguished a blaze Tuesday in a Slavic Village building that houses the Red Chimney restaurant, which was recently featured in the latest “Superman” movie.

Red Chimney, a Cleveland restaurant featured in the most recent "Superman" movie, sustained severe water damage Tuesday after a fire spread in the apartment above the restaurant.
