Meet the 2020 Livingston Award winners

Congratulations to Assia Boundaoui for winning the 2020 Livingston Award for National Reporting!

PBS’s POV "The Feeling of Being Watched” shares her deeply personal story uncovering a two-decade FBI investigation and the corrosive impact of perpetual surveillance on the Muslim American community of Bridgeview, Illinois that Boundaoui’s Algerian-American family has called home.

“The humanity she dared share, showed the story more powerfully than a keep your distance reporter could…. I say it made us all watch and feel – really feel.” - Ken Auletta, Livingston Awards national judge.

It’s been a privilege for theColourSpace to be a part of Assia’s continued success. Our CFO, Laika loves getting a chance to collaborate with all our clients; but her work with Assia has been transformative.

In the midst of a seismic social movement and a lingering pandemic, it is pivotal to our democracy to support and recognize reporting that advances the cause of truth and justice. Today the Livingston Awards honor stories that represent the best reporting by journalists under age 35 for work release...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
04/01/2020

theColourSpace
[email protected]

Renowned Colour Grading facility, theColourSpace, will now take its service from the big screen to the follicle.

Known as a premiere colour grading and digital intermediary services provider, theColourSpace is adapting and shifting their service catalogue to support their clients where they need it most.

Brooklyn, NY: Effective immediately theColourSpace will be pivoting its services, and shifting its focus entirely to hair colouring.

We know that now more than ever your personal appearance matters as you #StayHome. While we navigate our new normal, attending more and more Zoom meetings, we understand it’s easy to fall out of love with self-care. That’s why we want to make sure you’re looking your best while staying safe. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned about remote colour grading and applied it to hair. We’re proud to introduce an innovative new category in salon services: Virtual Hair Colouring™

Our team is dedicated to the science of colour, and now we’re using that passion to offer a variety of Hair Colouring services to best suit your needs.

“It's really a natural progression for us as a company, Floofing has been a core part off our services for as long as I've been part of the team. Now we get to take our passion for plucking stuffed toys and apply it to plucking your hair.”
- Laika
Chief Floof Officer

Recently we worked on the film ‘Active Measures’, now we take active pleasure in helping you pick the best hair colour for your complexion. When we finished work on the ‘Feeling of Being Watched’ we thought “wouldn’t it be great to help people enjoying the feeling of being seen.”

Our new service catalog is designed to cut, clean, and colour your hair in a virtual environment. We know these are stressful times, but that doesn’t mean you have to look the part. Our cutting edge technology and master colour stylists are here for you, full-time.

As everyone remains safely 6 feet apart, theColourSpace will start with virtual hair colouring exclusively. But, once life starts to return to normal, we’ll be transitioning all of our locations to full-service hair salons. As we continue pursuing our passion, we hope to expand on our offerings, adding hair editing... err, cutting, in the near future.

About theColourSpace: theColourSpace was formerly a full-service Post-Production facility, now a Hair Color studio based in Brooklyn, NY. Rebranded in 2020, we offer luxury color hair treatments to clients across the globe, specializing in AI driven recolorization and colour toning.

macOS upgrade advice:

Seeing Catalina is out and a bunch of people have updated and regretted it... Seems a good time to advise...

Don't upgrade OS until the x.x.2 update is out!

Why, you ask?

".0" update is... well, only for lunatics.
The ".1" update usually just fixes bugs found during the ".0" beta. Infact generally x.x.1 is already in testing when x.x.0 is released.
".2" is the first update that actually fixes bugs found during public release of "x.x.0."

What purple can tell us about life on other planets

From CNN Health's new series Colorscope, microbiologist Shiladitya DasSarma uses the color purple to theorize how organisms may thrive on other planets. Science fiction suggests that alien life would be green, but you might be surprised to learn it’s more likely to be purple.

https://edition.cnn.com/2017/08/04/health/colorscope-purple/index.html

The earliest life forms on Earth may have been purple. This theory could give us insight into what life on other planets might look like.

"[An exciting look at] what are believed to be the first colored color wheels produced by Claude Boutet [in 1708]. The one on [the left] appears to follow Newton’s ordering, giving seven colors rather than the even-numbered, symmetric kind offered on the [right side]. You will notice, however, that rather than the two kinds of blue proposed by Newton (indigo and blue), Boutet depicts two kinds of red: “rouge de Feu” (fire red) and “Rouge Cramoisi” (crimson red). Colour is in the Eye of the Beholder

Research suggests that our gender, age and the language we speak can affect how we distinguish between colours and shades. Lenstore created a fun test to find out how well you perceive colour and compare your results to the UK public.
