We uplift the voices and identities of people on the femme spectrum and to generate awareness about issues affecting the global femme community.

Mission: Equality for HER is a non-profit media outlet dedicated to inclusion, diversity, and breaking down barriers. We uplift the voices and identities of people on the femme spectrum and to generate awareness about issues affecting the global femme community. Recently, Equality for HER debuted it's 3rd edition of Femme's and Women's History Month, a series with artwork by Monique Le featuring over 25 women and femmes from diverse backgrounds, career fields, and cultures. Since its founding in 2014, Equality for HER has established partnerships with organizations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Pakistan, and England. The launch of Equality for HER's latest series Femme Founders gives feminine identifying individuals the opportunity to showcase their companies, organizations, and movements while inspiring future leaders in the process.

Staying Body Positive in Conversations Around Weight Loss

“It is important to understand that regardless of how you may feel about yourself and your journey, most people don’t feel comfortable or safe when talking about diet or exercise.”

Let’s make sure we stay body positive and aren’t feeding into the toxic diet culture when talking about our journey. By Dr. Jonathan P. Higgins A few months ago I was reminded of how much I missed working out. As someone who viewed the gym as one of the best stress relievers, I began to …

5 Ways to Make Protests Accessible and Truly Include Disabled Folks

Protests are critical in this shaky political climate. However, as we call our community to social arms, we must think about how to not only include but to center the most marginalized of voices: people with disabilities.

There are tons of things organizers can do to make protests more accessible for those with different needs. Here are 6 ideas.

These two branches of feminism catalog the differences between American history for White and Black women based on the chasm between their socioeconomic positioning.

Dr. Umar Johnson: White Supremacy’s Favorite Illusionist

“Dr. Johnson reinforces ideas that the ability to lead, to be in power, and influence is somehow gendered. That the rightful place for people who known themselves as black women is being subservient to people that know themselves as black men.” —Myles E. Johnson

Today, in the black community, the most curious type of magic and manipulation I witness is produced by the patriarchy. The most interesting of these magicians is Dr. Umar Johnson.

How Environmental Racism Affects Indigenous Communities in the USA

How environmental racism affects indigenous communities in the USA.

Environmental racism in the case of Indigenous Americans must be acknowledged as an insidious form of genocide. Environmental racism is a term that first began its use in the environmental justice movements of the 1970s and 1980s, primarily to address concerns about black communities being negativel...

Words Mean Things: Understanding Colonialism

The use of social media as a powerful tool for free education on various topics continually rises, with definitions, experiential narratives, and resources being shared through Twitter threads, short videos, Facebook statuses, and even memes.

Colonization is the act of forcefully stripping sovereignty of a country through acquisition of land, resources, raw material, and governmental structures. My turn to state an equation: colonization = “thing-ification.” – Aimé Césaire The use of social media as a powerful tool for free educa...

The Golden Age of TV Doesn't Begin or End With White Men

The widely deemed “golden age” of any industry has largely been identified by some tangible, yet highly subjective moment of innovation.

Dubbing the sudden absence of predatory men as the categorical dimming of some bright, new era rings of a false equivalency for many marginalized viewers. If you have remained plugged into our daily Hollywood news cycle, it might seem as if each day brings a newly exposed sexual predator. While that...

Working in Retail as a Marginalized Person is a Constant Exercise of Emotional Labor

Since consumers—the people with money to spend—have been empowered to judge the quality of each transaction, there is no social code for how they are expected to act. Retail employees, meanwhile, must live up to the unwieldy promises made by their bosses.

The overwhelming amount of emotional labor that is involved in working within retail or service industry positions is magnified for marginalized workers. By Crissonna Tennison Anyone who has ever worked in retail has at least one Bad Customer story. Mine occurred about one hour before the end of wha...

Mental Health: A Feminist Issue

Mental illness exists on a vast spectrum, and no one experience is representative of the rest.

Ableism has long been a problem within social justice movements, and feminist discourse has a history of excluding or actively ignoring the experiences and input of people with disabilities.
