From 2008 to 2017 as Sebastien Meyer followed the Iraqi #Kurds, his life became intertwined with theirs while they rose from their bloody past and briefly achieved a state of peace, before being plunged back into war. His new monograph, “Under Every Yard of Sky” (Red Hook Editions) takes the reader deep into the Kurdish experience and also reflects the photographer's personal story of friendship and loss.
It's been almost a week since the love-filled opening reception and book launch (Red Hook Editions) of WHEN WE WERE STRANGERS.

And the Photoville MVP award goes to...
Ron Haviv!
We don't usually do this, but we had to give some credit to this all around awesome guy, who was just about everywhere in Photoville 2017. Including manning his Lost Rolls America and his MVP exhibition, contributing to Newest Americans, teaching middle- and high-school students on Education Day, leading a workshop on helping photographers develop a distinct voice and visual style, sharing his work as part of the inspired Live Talk at St. Ann's Warehouse, and signing books with Red Hook Editions!
HUGE thanks to Ron for everything he contributed to make Photoville great this year (Images by Alan Winslow)
