πͺ΅ FRAMING
Once the foundation is set, the skeleton of the house goes up β and this is the stage where a flat slab of concrete suddenly starts to look like an actual home. Framing is the construction of the structural skeleton using lumber (or steel in commercial builds), and it happens fast. A skilled framing crew can frame an entire house in just a few days. The vertical boards are called studs, spaced exactly 16 or 24 inches apart β not random, but calculated to align with standard sheet sizes of drywall and plywood. Every wall, floor joist, and ceiling beam is engineered to transfer load downward, from roof to wall to foundation. The frame determines room sizes, ceiling heights, window placements β everything. Change your mind after framing and it costs serious money. This is why architects earn their fees before a single nail is driven.
