Last week, our Journalism and Media Studies (JAMS) major students had an amazing opportunity to go on an inclusive tour of Spectrum News NY1. They had a sneak peek into their futures. The students were able to practice as news anchors. They also experienced how a live news show is produced by being shown the internal production processes that occurs behind the scene.

Special thanks to:
- Spectrum News NY1
- Brooklyn College alumni Michael Wilkinson and Dexter David
- NY1 Senior News-gathering Manager, Shannon Troetel

Huma Kazi, Television and Radio major, has made the department very proud with her oral abstract presentation selection at Kennesaw State University for NCUR 2019. Her abstract, titled "Arranged Marriages Across Borders: How It's Conceptualized For Young Pakistanis and Pakistani-Americans", has been chosen out of 8,000 submissions from across the US, Canada, and the UK.

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is strongly committed to the wide expression of all forms and topics of undergraduate research, by all members of the undergraduate research community, and views with great concern any actions or policies that affect that commitment to inclusivity. The conference will be taking place during the second week of April - so wish her luck!

The Brooklyn College Television and Radio department are proud to announce the acceptance of Brooklyn College alumni Kamilah Kashanie to The Transom Story Workshop. Transom is a highly credited company, whose goal is to uplift, encourage and support young journalists, producers and on-air talent in public media. Transom is administered by Atlantic Public Media (APM), which is a non-profit organization based in Massachusetts, whose goal is “to serve public broadcasting through training and mentorship, and through support for creative and experimental approaches to program production and distribution.”

The Transom Story workshop is a nine-week workshop composed of full-time training for beginning producers. During their residential stay, applicants will produce radio promos, profiles, vox-pox series and more. We wish Kamilah all the best in her career.

Stop by the TVRA office for more internship opportunities like this one and more!

Good-Bye and Good Luck, Stuart MacLelland

After 26 years of service to the Brooklyn College Television and Radio department, our Professor Stuart MacLelland will be leaving our department to go on to help even more students in the future. We have created a short video that only scratches the surface of how much Professor MacLelland means to us. Thanks again for the guidance that you have given BC students and we wish you good luck in your future endeavors.

We are excited to announce a new Q&A form for BCTREM students! The purpose of this forum is for students to have a place to ask questions about what's going on this semester, about upcoming registration, and about anything else they're concerned about regarding their major, Brooklyn College, etc. They can also see who else is asking similar questions and see the answers to everyone's questions. We hope this page can help provide clarity and ease as we work through COVID19. You can find it here:

new film coming out about the event that coined the term, "Stockholm syndrome", called Stockholm. Ethan Hawke, Noomi Rapace, and Mark Strong are in it. i think it could be really entertaining. might be worth watching!
Hey, check it out. I was interviewed in this Snopes article about the controversial scenes subsequently cut from the kid's movie "Show Dogs." Media Literacy gets a plug, and, to quote myself, "Hysteria is never anybody's friend."
All Brooklyn College students are invited to the Independent Web Series directors and actors event this Tuesday, April 10th, at 6pm in the Woody Tanger Auditorium in the Library. Screenings of hit webisodes and a discussion of Independent Television with 7 professionals. Hope to see you there!

So it was 22 years this evening (May 6, 1995) when many of us "old timers" convened in Studio B to commemorate the retirement of Dr. Robert C. Williams, chair of the Department of Television and Radio, and celebrate the success of the Graduate Internship Program. He was the heart and soul of the academic program and led many of us to exciting careers in the broadcast field. Things have changed dramatically in this industry, but all of us have strong and fond memories of "the good ol' days." Cheers to all graduates of BCTVR!
Just released our first web series episode. Always looking for help when we shoot. Feel free to reach out.
