*There are two more units that will be open by the time this video airs, so we had to hurry up and finish those 🙌🙌🙌 which means that if you come today, you’ll be the first to see! Complimentary baked goods if you climb the stairs to see what’s up there! 😉

Meet our editor and founder, Kate Schwartz—a force for creativity and culture.

You may know Kate as the founder of Kate’s Art School, where she’s been inspiring learners for the past seven years and teaching for over sixteen. But her mission stretches beyond the classroom. Through The Village Nutshell and Choate Marketplace (which she co-owns with her husband), Kate is creating spaces where the arts and culture can thrive.

With every issue of the magazine, readers uncover hidden gems and stories that bring our village to life. And at Choate Marketplace & Cafe, visitors are often surprised to find such a rich cultural experience tucked into downtown Brooklyn. New shops like Mountain Nan and Plot Whisk offer folk crafts and imported foods, while two working studios—Crockery Painted Pottery and Kate's Art School—invite guests to get creative.
