HBD TO THE BEATING HEART OF APC

To: All Staff

Dear team,

On this once-in-a-yeartime occasion, we would like to wish Alpha Class Producer Eddy Vallante the happiest of birthdays. He's been a vital part of every project we've ever done and I can say with great confidence that Amalgamated Picture Co could never have become what it is today without him.

Therefore, it is my honor to formally announce that Eddy is now a full partner and co-owner of Amalgamated Picture Co and is henceforth contractually obligated to be a part of every project we ever will do.

To Eddy Vallante, the beating heart of Amalgamated. In perpetuity, throughout the universe.

Warm regards,

Dylan

KICKSTARTER IMMINENT

TO: All Staff

Hope you had a great holiday weekend and enjoyed your bonus half day off this morning. As we prepare for the launch of our first crowdfunding campaign a week from today (1/25), there’s still a lot of prep to do. A few items:

-If you haven’t volunteered for at least three phone bank shifts, please do so on the sign up sheet in the commissary. Though most people will likely be donating online, we’re aiming for 24 hour phone coverage for all 30 days of the campaign. Those who work third shift will be entered into a raffle to win an additional half-day off (in 2017).

-Very special thanks to Lorraine Huffman for crafting our beautiful fundraising thermometer, now display on the sound stage. We’ll be calling on various folks throughout the month to come color in our progress as we head toward our goal.

-Sadly, we’re canceling our company trip to Sundance this year to focus on the campaign. Anyone who has already secured accommodations in Park City should try to get their deposit back. If not, submit an expense report, finance will reimburse.

All the best,

Eddy and Dylan

AMALGAMATED SYNERGY SESSION QUESTIONNAIRE:
"SHARED UNIVERSE"

TO: Writing Department

Please bring answers to the following to the meeting on Monday.

1. What release dates “feel” right in 2017? 2018? 2019?
(Note: actual films to be determined later)

2. Prequel ideas:
-Epilogue: Skillman in high school?
-The Reservoir: Steven in high school?

3. What recognizable props/”easter eggs” from the APC catalogue can be arbitrarily inserted into upcoming films?
Bonus: Backstory/explanation of why it’s there (not critical)

4. Which character last names could we change in upcoming projects to imply a connection to previous films?

5. Independent shoehorn brainstorm: how else can we insinuate we’ve been planning universe continuity within the entire APC catalogue since the beginning despite this not being the case?

See you shortly.

Best,

D

AMALGAMATED “SHARED UNIVERSE”

TO: Writing Department

Hey everybody,

Things have never been more exciting in Hollywood. The creative successes of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Terminator: Jinosus and the visionary Fan4stic, have proven that it’s not enough to focus on just making an incredibly satisfying movie with great characters, a unique adventure, tension, stakes and a powerful theme. We need to be thinking about the movie AFTER the movie after this movie. Therefore, we will be implementing weekly Amalgamated Creative Team Brainstorming Synergy Sessions to discuss how we can merge our various properties into a unified vision or “shared universe” of our own. This is probably the hottest word combo in LA right now, and we have to be using it too.

-What if Steven’s absent father in "The Reservoir" is actually Skillman from Epilogue?

-What if whatever-his-name-is from Same Same is a big fan of The Privates?

These are the questions we need to be asking ourselves moving forward. This is a tough business, and the only way to survive is to adapt, to pivot and to chase the latest trends that might be working for other companies as quickly as we possibly can. It’s an inspiring time.

Kenny will send a calendar invite shortly, which will include some brainstorming questions. Please come to the Synergy Sessions PREPARED. I want us ironing this dress shirt from minute 1, not waiting for the iron to heat up.

Thanks,

Dylan

2015 MOONBEAM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Dear [DYLAN],

Thank you for your submission to the 2015 Moonbeam International Film Festival! This year we received a record 38,453 submissions to our short film category. It is always incredibly exciting for us to see the interest and passion of so many talented filmmakers!

Regrettably, due to the fact that the runtime of your film exceeded ten minutes, as well as the absence of any recognizable cast, we did not have time to view your film, [FILM NAME], and thus, are unable to offer you a slot in our program. There were so many wonderful films we viewed, and so, so many more we didn't watch, we could have programmed 100 festivals!!!! This is the hardest part of our job!

However, for an additional fee, our programmers will guarantee at least one viewing and provide light coverage. And if you would still like to attend the festival, we can also offer you a discounted three-day pass for just $699! Please reply to this email with the subject line "STILL WANT TO COME ANYWAY" and an attendance coordinator will be in touch in the coming weeks.

We realize this may come as a disappointment, but do not let this discourage you. The key to this business is persistence. Indeed, many filmmakers just like you have moved on to make films shorter than ten minutes with highly sought-after talent! Thank you so much for helping make the Moonbeam International Film Festival the gold standard it is today!

All the very best,

Les

EXPENSES

To: Eddy Vallante, Dylan Allen

Eddy & Dylan,

This morning, I received additional expenses via regular mail from your Location Manager, Reggie. Combined with his previous submissions, this brings the cost of his location scout to $62,586.27. This is both shocking and ridiculous. I would like to speak with both of you immediately about how this could ever have happened in a thousand years.

Regards,

Dennis

PLEASE CLOSE ALL DOORS

TO: All Staff

We have received reports that our south-facing studio exit (pictured) has been propped open since sometime in mid-August. As we transition into a productive fall season here at Amalgamated, we want to remind all staff to make certain all doors are fully closed behind you as you exit the building.

Thank you,

FIRING REGGIE, FOR REAL THIS TIME

To: Lorraine Huffman, Eddy Vallante

Hey gang,

Time to get rid of this lunatic once and for all. As far as I can tell he's still on the location scout which was scheduled to end months ago. Eddy and I had a call with James, the photographer, and we'll be lucky if he'll ever work with us again. We cancelled the company credit card Reggie was using, but he's still expecting reimbursement. This is a photo of a receipt he sent us. I don't care who he knows, I'm having Kenny clean out his desk. I just want to make sure we get our keys back. It might be worth it to just change the locks.

Best,

Dylan

UNDERGROUND BUNKER

To: Eddy Vallante, Dylan Allen, Matthew Perkins, Evan Jake Cohen

Heads up,

Facilities uncovered an underground bunker in a heretofore undiscovered sub basement below the lower level. You can only access it through a false wall in the boiler room. I believe this is where our previous tenant was holed up prior to arrest. There was a military cot, canned rations, a pistol that looks like the one James Bond has, and seven harddrives that had been previously missing from Archives. I think he was taking one for every week we hadn't vacated. The good news, I think we recovered the first day of footage from the January shoot. I'll keep you posted.

Best,

Lorraine

TIPS FOR AVOIDING THE SPRING COLD

By Dr. Folami-Boyd

Tip # 3: If you're sick, stay home! Unfortunately, this only applies to those who have already fallen ill, but the office is an ideal environment for spreading germs. Though it can sometimes feel like work has to come first, keeping yourself isolated when contagious is the best way to keep a pesky spring cold at bay for others... and keep you in the good graces of your co-workers!

To make an appointment at the Amalgamated Mini-Clinic, call ext. 4595 or email [email protected]

TIMESHEETS

All Amalgamated freelancers are required to submit their timesheets for supervisor approval by Monday 12:00 pm, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you do not prioritize your own paycheck, neither can we.

Other considerations:

1. Double check all project codes. Incorrect codes will only delay payment. If you cannot find the appropriate project code, or one has not yet been opened, please speak with Kenny Frambanowitz via email at [email protected]. He does not currently have a phone extension.

2. Please use a paperclip. NO STAPLES. This only hampers the process as we have to run them through the scanner.

3. Assistant producers cannot sign your timesheet. Acceptable supervisor signatures must come from Tier 3 personnel and above: Co-producer, editing sargeant, marketing chaplain, etc. Make certain the approver's name is clearly marked in case Finance needs to follow up.

SUMMER FRIDAYS

TO: All Staff

Hello all,

It's been a wild couple months here in the new offices, but we couldn't be more excited about the spectacular work you've all been doing, often under unusual and occasionally trying circumstances. Your dedication is our inspiration.

Thus, senior management is pleased to announce we will be closing the Amalgamated offices early on Fridays from now until Labor Day at 6:00 pm!

Enjoy the sunshine, everyone! See you Saturday.

All best,

Dylan and Eddy
