KORN is back in the studio and doing things the classic way.

Guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer spoke to BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show With Daniel P. Carter, revealing the band is tracking their upcoming album entirely on tape:

"We're doing it all on tape. We're all in the room, sweating it out. The tape is rolling. The guy gives us a thumbs up in the window, and we start playing. And all of us are locked in. And if we don't get it right, we rewind the tape and we do it again. It takes more commitment. It's, like, this is how we used to make records. So there's an energy to it that, I think, we like."

The album will follow their 2022 record Requiem, bringing back the raw, analog vibe that fueled their early sound.

Did you know Joe Satriani, the guitar virtuoso known for his mind-blowing instrumental solos, almost gave up on music entirely? At 14 years old, after the death of his mentor, Jimi Hendrix, Satriani was so devastated that he thought about quitting guitar. Instead, he channeled his grief into pushing his skills to the limit, eventually becoming one of the most influential guitarists of all time.

Here’s something incredible: Joe Satriani is one of the most respected guitar teachers in the world. Before launching his solo career, he taught some of the biggest names in rock, including Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett (Metallica), and Larry DiMarzio. His ability to break down complex guitar techniques and make them accessible helped shape generations of players. In fact, many of his students have gone on to make their own mark in rock and metal, perpetuating Satriani’s legacy.

Did you know Joe’s debut album, "Surfing with the Alien", remains one of the most groundbreaking instrumental guitar records in rock history? With its fusion of rock, blues, jazz, and classical influences, it broke the mold for instrumental music and introduced the world to Satriani's unique blend of technical mastery and emotion. Tracks like "Satch Boogie" and the title track still get guitarists to drop their jaws in awe.

And despite being known for his shredding solos, Satriani’s music is not just about speed—it’s about melody, mood, and feeling. His instrumental pieces, such as "Always With Me, Always With You" and "The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing," demonstrate his ability to evoke deep emotions without a single word being sung.

Joe Satriani is not just a guitar player; he’s a true musical innovator, constantly expanding the boundaries of what the guitar can do. His influence on rock, instrumental music, and guitar techniques is immense, and he continues to inspire new generations of players. 🎸🔥
