Brooklyn Botanical Garden news. #cantwait #oneday

Since closing to the public in mid-March, our community has been eager to know when we will reopen. We hear you, and we want to keep you informed of our reopening plans.

BBG hopes to reopen this summer when permitted to do so by local and state governance. In order to bring you back to the Garden, we are creating new staffing, social distancing, and public hygiene protocols at BBG guided by the state’s phased reopening and public health guidelines.

Continue to follow us on social media or sign up for our newsletters on bbg.org to hear the latest on our reopening schedule.

The Garden is a place of healing and respite, and a welcome center of calm for so many. We can't wait to welcome back our community as soon as it is safe to do so! Thank you for your ongoing support and love of BBG.

I write to you today with sad news. We've come to the difficult decision, and the only sound financial choice, to permanently close our doors at 458 Bergen Street on July 15. This is not goodbye. But it is an ending, and a tearful one.

All indie bookstores are independent + unique in different ways, and one way Stories was unique was that we were equal parts Bookshop + Storytelling Lab. Since ending our classes, Storytimes, and events on March 13, half of our business has ceased to exist, and with all the uncertainties we cannot see a time in the near future when it would be safe to use our space as it was intended—a small, intimate gathering spot for shared stories, where kids drew and drooled on one another and grown-ups tried not to step on any tiny fingers.

Our Webshop remains open, and we are running an amazing promotion called #KidLitArtSurprise spearheaded by our friends Elisha Cooper and Ruth Chan, and brought to life by an extraordinary team of illustrators—when you order from us you will get an original piece of artwork from a surprise artist! Perhaps a Jessica Love! Or a Sophie Blackall! Tad Hills! Or Misa Saburi! Brian Floca!

Our hearts are full of gratitude for this community. The little blue bookshop brought the most wonderful people into our lives—readers of every age, the talented, generous artists + authors, and our amazing staff from whom I learned so much. I can't thank you all enough for the support and love you've given our family and family business over the last 4 years.

We don't know what the future holds. We are making a plan for contactless pick-ups and socially distant hugs later this month. We Still Believe Stories Can Change the World! Our mission of connecting families through a shared love of storytelling burns strong. Will there be a Stories Bookmobile? A Stories Podcast? How can Stories live on? Watch this space. And keep in touch, Book Fam. Keep sharing your stories. The world needs them.

Hello Brooklyn parents, I hope you are all well. I am a music teacher based in Bushwick (piano, voice and guitar) and sound therapist. Due to tour current situation, I have more open time to teach, so I am currently accepting new online students. I teach all ages and levels. I've been teaching for over 20 years, I'm a Steinway & Sons educational partner, and my students have been accepted in gifted and talented schools in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Some of them perform regularly at the MET. However, many of my students just like to play songs and understand how music works, and that's exactly what we do. No matter the age. (I have students as young as 4 up to 70 years old). My teaching philosophy never encourages competition with others. It is all based on love of music, self-development, self-discipline, and love. Because of this, I create specific lessons for each one of my students and I draw from each individual's learning process to create lessons that suit them and that focus their abilities in order to achieve specific goals. You don't need any special gear for online lessons. All you really need is an instrument (If you don't own an instrument yet, I will be happy to send you different suggestions of all budgets), and a strong internet connection. It can be your phone, ipad, tablet or computer. If you're interested please feel free to reach out via DM or to: [email protected] Feel free to visit my Website: https://nycpianoschool.com/ Be well, Andrea Baquero
