FMCSA has already sidelined 26,000 truck drivers-and now it wants to make the English rule permanent.
Under the proposed nationwide rule, CDL drivers who cannot adequately speak or read English, understand road signs, or communicate with police and inspectors could immediately be placed out of service. Supporters say anyone operating an 80,000-pound truck must understand basic English for public safety.
The proposal is not final yet and must go through a public comment period. Do you support this rule, or has enforcement gone too far?
