Lesson 7: The act of being observed, whether consciously or unconsciously, can impact behavior—a phenomenon known as the Hawthorne effect 👀✨.
Steph Curry missing the free throws 🏀❌ further proves this concept. If the people believe something can or will happen, it can almost encourage it to happen—because that’s the power of collective consciousness 🧠⚡. It's a reservoir of everyone's thoughts that all individuals must overcome, or at least be aware of. Meaning: other people’s thoughts have a force over you 🌀.
The formula for Force = Mass x Acceleration (F=ma) 🧮🔥.
Drawing parallels, societal perspectives molded by mass media 📺📰 can act as a powerful force shaping behavior. The interchangeability of mass and energy in modern physics prompts an inquiry: do the masses—figuratively represented by groups of individuals—exert gravitational pulls that guide behaviors? 🌍➡️
Media portrayal and stereotypes, particularly affecting marginalized communities like Black people ✊🏾, create an energy force influencing perceptions and behavior. This not only causes other cultures to view Black people as bad, but tragically, also leads Black people to view themselves the same way 🪞⚫. Energies both unlike and similar to Black identity begin to form against their conscious thought, like invisible waves of resistance 💨⚔️.
Economic disparities, living conditions, and societal prejudices 💰🏚️⚖️ all contribute to this pressure. In a sense, they encourage some groups to conform to negative expectations, pushing many Black individuals into cycles of misbehavior and incarceration 🚨⛓️.
