Based in a 20 ft. shipping container, the Lot Radio is the ultimate mix of online and offline broadcasting. You can enjoy the performing artists on site, but all of the acts are also livestreamed online through the Lot’s website. This little island – literal and figurative – in Brooklyn has grown into quite the community where passion for music is the common denominator. Francois started this project in 2016 after passing by an empty lot during walks. When he saw the ‘for rent’ sign one day, he didn’t hesitate one moment. Always the music-lover, Francois realized he wanted to follow that passion of his. He put down a 20 ft. shipping container on the space that houses both the radio station and a coffee bar today. At the coffee bar or ‘kiosk’ as they call it, you can order drinks and snacks whilst enjoying the music with a view on the Manhattan skyline in the background. The whole concept of the Lot works, because it has strong core values. The station is completely independent and is financed thanks to the activity of the kiosk. This innovative model gives the project absolute freedom. At the moment of our visit the guys from Sick Psych World were handling the decks. Expect the most varied music New York City has to offer!
