Hey everyone, I'll do an official announcement with fireworks and all the trimmings a little bit later, but it's been a long 2020, and I wanted to give you all a little bit of good news. Creators are still creating. Here in Brooklyn, we're making a home for their stories and art. Kaleidocast Season 3 is still in the works and we've finalized the list of stories. We will announce the Season 3 authors on Monday.

Trust me. You're gonna lose your ish.

Folklore is the foundation of modern fantasy writing. The symbols and characters used in so many of the stories we love have a legend, a fairy tale, or a myth at its root. When authors get it right, it feels a little like coming home. We happened to notice that many of Kaleidocast Season 3's stories tease out these folklore elements in startling and spectacular ways. So we reached out to the experts to dig a little deeper.

Sara Cleto & Brittany Warman, the founders of the Carterhaugh School of Folklore and the Fantastic, are brilliant and warm academics who make the Dark Forest a fun place to play.

The first of the exclusive #Patreon video lectures they will be producing for the the Kaleidocast is for "Sailing to the Underworld; Or, Anywhere You Take Me from Here," by BSFW member Mimi Mondal with Joshua A.C. Newman, which will be published this year for Season 3. Please subscribe to the Kaleidocast Patreon and help us become a new home for new and amazing speculative fiction.

Tim Pratt. N.K. Jemisin. Amal El Mohtar. Theodora Goss. What do these amazing authors all have in common? Kaleidocast published their stories alongside amazing new writers from right here in NYC. And we're going to do it again in Season 3, but this time we're going to pay at least semi-pro. We've just hit the $164 mark, almost halfway to our goal of $400 a month. We believe authors should get paid well for their work and with your subscription, you can help us become a new home for speculative fiction. https://www.patreon.com/kaleidocastnyc
