I am ridiculously in love with this Rooster. He is SO EXCITED every time he sees me coming, starts talking and dancing the whole way. He doesn’t have a bit of aggression & I can do anything I want to him. I pick him up and he just goes limp 🥰

Can we talk about his tail feathers?! I have soo many pictures of his tail 😅 I can’t get enough.

Anyone else crazy about their roosters? They’re honestly my favorite part of silkies lol

I have gone back & forth SO MUCH on this, but I am letting go of my splash pen 🥺

I’ve said it before, my heart is in paint & mottled. I am a TINY breeder and I can’t have too many pens, my feed bill can’t be that high. So I’m forcing myself to make this call.

I’m not asking for top dollar, but they ain’t dirt cheap either. These girls have produced some beautiful babies for me, some of which I still have.

Large Marge (blue showgirl) is a TANK. She is heavyyyy for a silkie! The splash girl loves to get her head dirty, she needs a bath. The other blue girl is still molting, but I cant wait forever. She is soo sweet & talks constantly lol The splash showgirl is molting as well.

Haven’t seen this boy in a while so I had to get him out for photos. But once we got to the photo area he just wanted to be held lol

Benny is our sweetest rooster BY FAR! I consider him an angel walking this earth. This sweet energy is exactly the I want passed down to my chicks.

Genetics always come first to get to SOP, but personality and temperament is close second. I will not keep a nasty rooster! 🙅‍♀️

I feel very thankful for this absolutely beautiful and mild mannered Roo 🥰

Guys.. we’re bringing her brother home too 🥹

When we went to meet this little girl her brother was the star of the show. The little doeling was shy and scared and stayed back a bit. Her buckling brother wanted to do nothing but play with my girls!! I am talking jumping all over them the whole time. He was SO STINKIN SWEET!

I came home and I just can’t stand the thought of leaving him behind. My girls loved him soo much and kept begging for him. Playful goats is exactly what we wanted for my human kids so I asked the hubby and he said yes 😭🥹

I’m so excited to be able to bring these siblings home soon! Being able to keep them together makes my heart so happy!! 🥰

I am happy to say that we have put a deposit on a lovely little doeling! 🥰

Hail's Quails & More was kind enough to allow us to their place today to see her in person & make sure I like her. This little doeling looks so much like our little man, I think it was mean to be!

They even sent me home with some itty bitty quail eggs! 🥹 Please show them some love & give them a follow! They have a wonderful set up for their birds 👏

Hopefully this little angel will be here in a week or so! Positive thoughts I sell enough birds 🤣

Well that was freaking DOOZY!!

Getting ready to leave and drop off a bird/run some errands & all hell breaks loose.

Downpour, followed by hail, strawberries out back fell over, went to rescue them, boots immediately flooded, barefoot it is, check on Archer, thank god he’s totally fine, rescued birds from corners of coops, BAREFOOT because boots are ruined 🤮, full blown river flowing under my tiny house..

Everyone is “fine” but good lord. This is why I want all my birds insideeeee 😭💔😭

Homesteading life can be so rewarding 🥰

Our family did the busy work shuffle for many many years. We have been experiencing stay at home mom/homesteading life for a few years now and have made some major changes.

Yesterday was a big moment for me. Nadia tried a cherry and loved it. Her very next thought was: Can I grow a cherry tree and how? 🤔

This thought process is exactly one of my goals with this lifestyle. I want my kids to question how they can grow something and do the proper research to accomplish that goal. I don’t want the mindset of running to the store for another one.

Between Nadia wanting a cherry tree, my teenage son growing non stop tomatoes, my green bean plant thriving and providing seemingly endless harvest.. I am happy 🥰

We all know this lifestyle isn’t for the weak. But these moments remind me exactly WHY we chose this! And why we continue to grow, learn & thrive in our new life 👏

Well that’s a first.

Out watching the goats with the husband and discussing how Little Bit needs a good milking. As we’re chatting about uneven ni***es I see Little Bit try to MOUNT her buckling.

He is three days old 😳

From what I can gather, this is either a hormone surge post delivery OR a heat cycle. Apparently a very healthy goat can go into estrus within a week of birth.

Being that it’s been 3 days, I think hormones. I truly hope it’s just that and passes quickly. She is far to large to be getting on top of him. If I feel his safety is compromised, I will pull him.

Monitoring very closely for now. Goat friends, experience here? First time witnessing this though it sounds fairly common.
