Okay friends & breeders, I need your help!

On my way out of USPS today I was stopped by an employee that was there to ask for a survey on how USPS is doing. I told her “I’m not sure you what my opinion.”

That started a convo on us breeders having major issues with shipping through USPS. I explained what we have been dealing with as far as packages being destroyed, birds passing in transit & egg boxes purposely being turned sideways or upside down. She was appalled.

She wants to make this better and I think we ALL want answers or improvements in this area.

Can anyone who’s had a poor shipping experience with USPS please leave a comment about what happened. Details matter. Please add photos from that situation as well if you have them.

I am coming back next Thursday to talk with her again and she is going to try to help this. She seems just as upset as me about this, so let’s hope we can make some progress here! 👏

Edit: She will not be culled. The community thinks it’s not that severe, so I’m willing to give her a chance. That is always my goal & exactly why I reach out to my community like this 🫶🏼

Debating a hard cull on this one 😭

I noticed last week that one of my Diva Girl Silkies chicks has a pretty bad cross beak. Might even consider this one a wry face 💔

This is likely from incubation & no fault of the amazing breeder I got them from. These things happen sometimes & it’s more common in silkies.

The sad part is this one is the sweetest of them all. Because that’s how it works, right? I can’t be a** hat Aaron, nope. It’s always to be my sweetheart hyper mottled chick.

I have only seen this one other time but this girls case seems pretty severe. She’s already crossing at 3 weeks old and her face is crooked as well.

Hard cull? Find a nice pet home? What would you do in this situation? I don’t mind doing the work to find a good home, but I also kinda feel like I’m putting the burden on someone else? Which I don’t love. I don’t love ending lives either though.

Two days in a row we’ve lost power.

No storm, not a drop of rain, no accidents..

One incubator is one day 2 -__- This always happens when I start eggs. Thankfully, I thing I have a battery backup but what is going on?!

Our power bill doubled two months ago and has stayed there. Now we have random outages in top of it? Come on now 🤦‍♀️

Anyone else have wacky things going on with their electric lately? 👀

Oil of Oregano wins again!! I am SO happy to say that this girl is on the mend! 😍

She has been inside for two weeks but I didn’t start Oil of Oregano in her water until three days ago. Within 48 hours of adding a few drops of this she was acting better. We’re on day 3 and she’s still improving.

If you do not have Oil or Oregano in your tool kit ADD IT!!!

Oil of oregano is antimicrobial & boosts their immune system, which helps fight infections & sickness. It can even help treating coccidia! I HAVE seen it fully kick an infection in humans as well. They claim it’s not an actual antibiotic, but I’ve absolutely seen it kick every infections butt! 👊

You can add the drops into water, mash & you can use it topically for wounds as well. When my girls had fowl pox we healed their wounds twice as fast using this.

Cautions: oil or oregano is a hot oil. It MUST be diluted. A few drops goes a LONG way!
It also needs an oil as an emulsifier. This one has olive oil in it and is my preferred choice.
It can disrupt gut health so I recommend pairing it with a probiotic.

Highly recommend having this tiny miracle oil in your medicine cabinet! 👏
