A much deserved retirement!
With over 37 years of service, Bryan Fire Chief Randy McGregor has announced plans to retire in late January 2021. Chief McGregor began his career with the BFD in 1983, and has served in many capacities, including being named Chief in 2012. As the Chief, the Department has grown significantly and numerous accomplishments were made, including the City Council’s goal to have 4 firefighters on each engine and ladder company, a Class 1 ISO rating, EMS accreditation, and a new Fire Station #2.
Did you request a mail-in ballot? Curious how many stamps to slap on that bad boy? We got you covered, friend!

I've interviewed dozens of internship candidates over the last four years. Where they attend school only matters in that we require class credit for interns. In addition to being a proud Sam Houston State University Bearkat, I'm a proud former student of Lone Star College-Kingwood!
When a journalism executive suggested I could have gotten an internship if I wasn’t attending a community college, he perpetuated systemic barriers.
Where are my teachers at? Does any of the advice in this article ring true?
Journalism professors in virtual classrooms should consider a broadcast model over a teach one, with teacher as producer.
Interesting study from the Missouri School of Journalism. Trust in news isn't rising with consumption.
A team of Missouri School of Journalism students and recent graduates this summer wanted to know how people were reacting to the news they were seeing about COVID-19. So the group picked a representative town and asked. The answers weren’t promising.
100 cars will be parked and will listen to the town hall through their radios.
CNN will host the first political drive-in town hall of the 2020 presidential election Thursday night -- the latest adaptation to campaigning during the coronavirus pandemic.
Can you imagine seeing something like this???? 😲

Another great interview with Greg Abbott about his statewide mask order. Many thanks to the governor and to Crystal Galny for asking the good questions!
Gov. Abbott says wear a mask! If you're caught not wearing one, it's a warning, then a fine not to exceed $250 every time after. Better stock up, friends 😷😷😷😷😷
Governor Greg Abbott signed an executive order Thursday requiring people to wear masks in public spaces in counties with 20 or more positive COVID-19 cases.

I want to share these messages and faces from our #blacklivesmatter protests because it needs to be seen. Our timelines are filled with violence. Here is the peaceful message of change in my community.
These are the faces of the #blacklivesmatter protests in Bryan and College Station. They have been peaceful and loud and passionate. We have to listen to them. I am listening.
This was a difficult story. Police reports are sworn testimony. We report what's in them as fact because it is. We work hard to attribute those facts. Mr. Scarborough's arrest is far from the first we've covered. If given the same situation, we'd report it again. He has my cellphone number.
Bryan police say they arrested a man at Sunday's Black Lives Matter rally for reckless driving after he enticed a crowd of peaceful protesters. A review of photos and videos suggests his intent was misidentified.
