Here are a few photos we captured at the "Sounds of Freedom: Welcome to the Barbecue" Juneteenth Celebration in College Station, TX. We here at U Matter Magazine had a great time covering this wonderful event, particularly witnessing how the kids were able to learn about Juneteenth. They also participated in a Q&A session during the roundtable discussion with DJ Michael "5000" Watts and artist KYLE. Both musicians offered valuable advice to the kids, and it was truly inspiring to see these successful individuals share their wisdom and love with the next generation. After the discussions, the kids enjoyed a tasty barbecue lunch. A heartfelt thank you to Frederick White and the entire volunteer team for all your hard work for the community. This embodies the mission of U Matter!

We had an amazing time at the 17th Annual Community Softball Classic hosted by the B/CS Chamber of Commerce! Congratulations to the Bryan and College Station Fire Departments for taking home the win. Both teams played exceptionally well for a fantastic cause: raising awareness for the 100 Club. This nonprofit organization provides financial assistance to the families of fallen first responders. We at U Matter Magazine are thrilled to have been part of this incredible event!😃

Congratulations to the Bryan High School welding students for constructing this impressive mini monster truck that reaches a height of 7 feet! Today, we at U Matter Magazine had the pleasure of meeting their fantastic Welding Instructor, Chris Lehde, who demonstrated revving up the mini monster truck in the video below. I’m thrilled for the students and the chance they have to showcase the truck on the track at the Moody Center on June 7th! A special thanks to Northern Tool + Equipment's Tools for the Trades program and Monster Jam for providing this amazing opportunity to Bryan High School!

Today, I visited Bryan High School to meet with Chris Lehde, the welding instructor, who showcased the completed project: a mini monster truck built by the students in his welding program. In our latest edition of U Matter, specifically on page 47, we interviewed Matt Coleman, a district director at Northern Tool + Equipment, about the Tools for the Trades program. It’s thrilling that they have partnered with Monster Jam, providing these talented students the chance to unveil the truck on the track at the Moody Center ATX on June 7th! I made sure the welding instructor received copies of this edition to share with the students. He noted that this project helped the kids develop communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and fostered closer friendships. Wishing these students a fantastic summer, and we at U Matter Magazine are excited for June! Don't miss the follow-up story in our Fall/Winter edition set to be released this September 2025.
