It might not be visually appealing, but we dont waste food here. Ever.

Everything down to the last bite goes into a scrap bowl and at evening chore time it goes straight to the pigs or chickens.

Because sometimes its not about everything being Pinterest perfect all the time.

Instead its about being mindful and reducing waste.

What good would it do to throw away food when something else can eat it.

Another rescued kitten!

Yesterday while I was milking I could hear crying from the milk barn loft. I looked around and could just barely see this scared baby down in the boards where there was no way we could get to it. But I knew it would do like the others and come out when ready. So I left it alone.

This morning as I walked into the barn for feed, I heard it again. This time it was wondering around, lost, and this feral baby came running to me. Hungry and so happy to be found.

Sweet potatoes are so easy to grow. I have growed them for years. Raised bed or a nice tilled garden is ideal. Plant your slips, mulch, water, and let grow. They are a great storage crop, making them a food you can eat throughout the winter.

River is loving the river. I think its so cool that we can work around the farm all day and also take a break, hop on the side by side, drive through the field and have a family fun time. No packing alot of things, loading children, or driving far, just our own little "escape". We like doing other things to occasionally but for everyday life, living on the river is the best.

We found the cutest kittens today in the milk barn loft. I knew there was likely some up there from a semi feral momma. Every morning she would come down for milk. But she hasn't the last few mornings, she hasn't been back, something has likely happened to her. And her babes wondered around looking for her.

Today was our last day of Spring Homeschool Co-op. Thankful for mimi joining in every co-op day so neither kid has to be left alone (parents have to stay and help anyway). The best thing about our co-op is its every other week in the spring and fall, so no crazy obligations but at the same time we get to go meet friends and learn new things. Parents run the classes and maybe in the fall ill teach one.

I cant help it.I struggle to spend money in every aspect of life. Except one. Regardless of how many seeds I start. Btw....

Btw...the greenhouses at Tunas are my favorite. Great prices and nice plants!

I had to grab some extras, because not to point fingers or anything...but my one year old has been kinda destructive 😆

I use to hand milk and actually enjoyed it.
It was quiet and peaceful.
Because our schedules were different and my husband was home when I milked so I didn't have to bring the kids out.

But when schedules changed and they had tag along we bought a milker. It was truly a great investment. I, or anyone for that matter, can easily clean the udder and hook it up. It makes bringing the kids with me much easier.

The only downside? Cleaning...that part is what kept me from getting one in the beginning. Because adding more to clean seemed overwhelming. But truthfully its a few extra minutes every morning.

The biggest advantage, it keeps the milk clean, no dust or flys falling in, or worse any p**p from a swinging tail.

The days are on repeat.

It's like the same movie playing over and over again.

It's so predictable. The same routine. The same mess. The same noise. The same chaos.

And the same snuggles. The same laughs. The same fun times.

The same exhaustion but the same energy too.

But there is literally no place id rather be. I'm suppose to be home raising our children. Doing all the same work we pay others to do. Cleaning, cooking, child care, school, etc.

And while i have Littles butting heads as they learn how to handle things, a needy baby who almost melts if shes put down, and the same feeling that im behind on things, I remember that one day it will be quiet, and itll be "perfect " again and ill miss this chaos SO bad.

I wouldnt change a single thing.

P.s. I also think having the best husband (literally) keeps me sane.
