The other night my husband walked in from work and asked if I would grab his lunchbox from the truck. But instead there was this beautiful dress for me.

Just because.

I already always feel so thankful for him then he does things like this. 15 years and 3 kids later, all the reason to love eachother well and always pour into the other.

Every season is different.

In one season things may be nearly perfect. Tidy, thriving, well managed, abundant.

In another, tomatoes may not be tied as often, weeds may take over certain areas, and maybe it's still abundant.

Guess which season im in 🫠

It's garden vs a very fast running 15 month old 😆

But things being harder isn't about to stop me from doing them. Yes it's alot harder this year. She's mobile. And she's not staying in one spot. So tomatoes are almost on their own. But the harvest continues, and that is the most important thing.

If your garden isn't always pinterest perfect, that is ok. It's real life. Real people. With other things to do than just garden.

Growing food is important. So grow the food, and if you can't keep up at all times, that's ok, take the harvest and make the most with it.

Side note * I just recently realized that I planted butternut squash (vining) in my tunnel with the tomatoes. I meant to plant zucchini. So it's a jungle. Butternut squash is a storage crop that we LOVE. So while I ideally wouldnt plant it in there like it is, its also so cool to have so much extra of them.

I looked out the back door and had to do a double count of the cows when I seen this baby walking around.

It is always a relief to find a new baby healthy AND mama healthy.

This says it all.But I think I can confidently say we thrive in the chaos of little humans.

Off to the freezer!

The reality is something has to die for something else to eat.

It might sound harsh, but I would rather the animals we eat be so well taken care of for their life rather than support factory farming. We love raising our meat. From babies to the end, they are treated with love and always know when I roll up I got the treats.

Just because it's not brand new, doesn't make it not valuable, no good, or wrong. It might not be pinterest perfect but thats ok, because its real life and not everything has to be.

But there is something special about the "old" things.

This old milk barn might need some TLC but even still it's worth appreciating.

When we moved here I paid no attention to it. I milked the cows in the field. We were so busy cleaning our place up. Everything from the previous owner had been left behind. Piled high in the barn and milk barn. We spent countless days cleaning, hauling off, tearing down and rebuilding, tearing down an old house and sheds, taking out fence, building new fence and putting up the coop and goat barn.

Then one day it just hit me, I actually had this milk barn to use and just as it sits right now, it's worth being thankful for.

Freeze dried milk.

One way we use our milk is by freeze drying it. It seems every year we have some bottle babies and this is a great way to feed them without dipping into our fresh milk supply.
