LIVINGSTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S
OFFICE (New York)-
Named after Robert R Livingston who helped to draft both the Declaration of Independence and The Louisiana Purchase, Livingston County was formed from portions of Ontario and Genesee County in 1821. The County Sheriff’s Office serves its resident population of roughly 62,000 people and covers a patrol area of about 640 square miles. LCSO is headquartered in the Village of Geneseo and like many other agencies we’ve featured they provide a variety of special services in addition to general road patrol services.

PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE-
The Pennsylvania State Police is headquartered in Harrisburg, PA and serves the state’s population of almost 13 million residents. PSP divides the state’s 46,000 square mile area into 16 distinct patrol areas or troops. As of 2016, 1,287 municipalities use PSP as their only local law enforcement. Similar to other State Police agencies, the PSP have a residential training academy that is located in Hershey, PA.

PENTAGON FORCE PROTECTION AGENCY/
PENTAGON POLICE DIVISION-
The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is charged with protecting and safeguarding the occupants, visitors, and infrastructure of the Pentagon, Mark Center Building, and other DoD occupied/leased facilities as assigned within the National Capitol Region.

The Pentagon Police Division (PPD) is the child agency of the PFPA that’s acts as the uniformed law enforcement arm of the agency. PPD’s role is to provide law enforcement services like patrol, response and investigations of criminal activity for the Pentagon and other Office of the Secretary of Defense activities.

ERIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (New York)-
We bet you thought we were done with ECSO, but here we go again! With football season starting soon, we figured we’d kick off season early by showcasing a couple promotional patches for our home team. While these patches aren’t issued for duty, they certainly do have charm. In addition to their duties mentioned in previous posts, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office provides additional safety and security at the Buffalo Bills home of Highmark Stadium. Their duties on game day range from parking control, traffic management and other potential issues related to stadium security.

TOWN OF ORCHARD PARK PD (New York)-
The Town of Orchard Park is located within Erie County, NY and is known for being the Home of Buffalo Bills! Covering an area of about 38.5 square miles, Orchard Park has approximately 30,000 residents. The town of Orchard Park Police Department’s history dates back to 1927 and like departments featured on our page, has grown and developed in order to provide a number of specialized units and services in addition to their general road patrol services to the population they dutifully serve.

Unfortunately we don’t have current version of their department patch in our collection featured instead is a now obsolete version of the department patch which pays homage to the towns Quaker settlers with its design.

DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY PD-
The Defense Logistics Agency is a combat support agency under the umbrella of the United States Department of Defense headquartered in Fort Belvoir, VA. The DLA Police provides general police services, physical security, and counter terrorism protection for all facilities, employees and resources under control of the DLA. DLA Police Officers receive the bulk of their initial training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA.

VILLAGE OF NORTH COLLINS PD (New York)-
The Village of North Collins is nestled quietly in the southern half of Erie County, NY. Serving a population of only about 1,250 residents and covering a total area of only about 0.80 square miles, the Village of North Collins Police Department might be the smallest agency we have featured so far. The Village Department is staffed by only 9 part time officers. As a result, the majority of road patrol services are provided by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office (who you might remember from a previous post). Where ECSO acts as the primary law enforcement agency and provides general road patrol services to village residents, the Village of North Collins PD serves the village mainly through traffic enforcement, community policing, and community interactions.

Featured below is their current patch along with an older patch which is no longer used in service.

SEDGWICK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (Kansas)- Sedgwick County, KS is the second most populous county in the state and is named after Union Army Major General John Sedgwick. The Sheriff’s office is headquartered in Wichita and provides its services to roughly 525,000 residents over an area of about 1,010 square miles. The Sheriff’s office road patrol division is split into 3 shifts and is divided into 8 “beats” covering the unincorporated areas of Sedgwick County.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA PROTECTIVE SERVICES DIVISION (Washington, D. C.)-
Formerly known as the Protective Services Police Department, the District of Columbia Protective Services Division (PSD) is a division of the Department of General services and is the organization responsible for “law enforcement activities and physical security of all properties owned, leased or otherwise under the control of the District of Columbia.” PSD officers are sworn law enforcement personnel with full police authority the same as officers from other agencies like the DC Metropolitan Police Department.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY PD (Maryland)-
Not to be confused with the Pennsylvania county of the same name mentioned in yesterday’s post, Montgomery County, MD is the most populous county in Maryland and is adjoined to the nation’s capital. Divided into 6 different patrol districts, the Montgomery County Police Department is headquarter in Gaithersburg, MD and covers an area of about 506 square miles. It’s important to point out that MCPD is also a distinct agency from the county’s Sheriff’s Office. Where the Sheriff’s Office serves as the enforcement arm of the judicial system within the county, MCPD provides general patrol and emergency services to the county’s nearly 1.1 million residents.
