A Message from Our Publisher
It is with great sadness that I must inform you that we have lost our beloved star intrepid reporter Nelly Bly in a tragic pickle ball accident on Memorial Day. Our only consolation is that she perished doing what she loved most.
The staff of Burbank Voice will be on hiatus as we process our grief and ultimately decide how to move forward. In the meantime, there is a crucial election in November that will decide the future path of the City of Burbank. To honor the memory of our dearest Aunt Nelly, we urge you to keep this in mind as you meet the candidates for Council and School Board:
Like Aunt Nelly, take the time to do the deep dive. Don’t take what candidates say at face value and don’t vote based on vibes. Follow the money and make an effort to question their motives.
Lots of incumbents are running for re-election. Did they keep their promises? How did they fulfill their duties? Push them to defend their decisions.
Now more than ever, the campaigns will be focused on social media. Be careful of AI and weird claims.
And finally, if you are getting lots of mailers about candidates, look at the bottom and find out who paid for the mailer and question why and what that candidate will do in return.
