Happy to share that "Ordinary Day", the music video I directed for German artist and producer The Mellowman, has been officially selected for the 2026 Phulae Animation Festival in Chiang Rai, Thailand, among thousands of submissions!

It's a genuine honor to have this piece included in such a vibrant celebration of animation and digital art. Thanks to the Phulae jury for this recognition, and to The Mellowman for the inspiration!

George Lucas says rejecting AI is like rejecting cars in favor of horses: 'There's nothing you can do about it… it's the future' | News

July 14 — Just over a year after Lucasfilm, the production company bearing his name, produced a risible demonstration of AI-generated 'aliens,' George Lucas has offered his take on the tech.

In a chat with A Rabbit's Foot (via Kotaku), Lucas alighted on the topic of other directors' hostility to new tech.

"I have a lot of friends who are on the Film Foundation with me, that's dedicated to saving old movies, and some of them say 'I'll never do digital. Lawrence of Arabia was shot with film.'" Lucas thinks that's a bit daft: "It's the moving image. That's what it is. It's not a technology, it's an idea."

Lucas goes on to apply this philosophy to AI and the backlash against it.

"Artificial intelligence means it's much easier for us to make movies. It's very much like sitting here saying, 'Well, I believe the horse and the buggy is really where it's at. These cars, they break down, they need gas, there's all kinds of problems with them and pretty soon they'll be making them into tanks, and then they'll be killing people. It's terrible.'"

And then, Lucas says the same thing you've heard from countless AI boosters: "There's nothing you can do about it. That's progress, it's the future."

To the extent that Lucas does grapple with the drawbacks of AI, he seems to believe we can use AI to solve them.

"If you want AI that tells you when something is fake and where it came from, AI can do that. Humans can't, we're not that smart. The whole idea is you're a human being, you're responsible for what you say and what you do, and if you're doing something that's illegal you should be punished for that. Whatever you do, you should be recognized. It's just like real life."

"DIVA VOX - WHITE ROOM" picked up an Honorable Mention for Best Music Video at the Art Film Awards International Festival in Macedonia! Art Film Awards

Shot in mid 2025 -when I traveled to Iceland- this project was a risk: minimal set, maximum trust. And Diva Vox showed up with something I can't teach: PRESENCE! Her ideas shaped half of what you see on screen. Her patience through the long hours, her willingness to stand in front of the camera in discomfort until we got it right, and yes, her beauty, not just the visual kind, but the kind that holds a frame together without trying.

Grateful she trusted me with this. Grateful to the crew who never dropped the energy. 🙏 DIVA VOX

And a huge thanks to the jury at the Art Film Awards for seeing what we set out to do and honoring it among so many incredible works.

What a morning! I'm incredibly proud to announce that the stunning music video I directed for German musician The Mellowman's upcoming song "Ordinary Day" has just been officially nominated at the OMNI 1.5 HYPERPHANTASIA International AI Film Festival in Sydney, Australia! 🎬

Out of 3,800 entries from around the globe, our music video made the final cut of just 180 films. To have our work recognized by a jury featuring legends like iconic Hollywood filmmaker Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City, Knowing, I, Robot) and Professor Toby Walsh (leading AI scientist and Chief Scientist at the UNSW AI Institute in Sydney) is truly surreal, and honestly, a little overwhelming in the best way possible.

This is our fifth collaboration together, and I enjoyed bringing The Mellowman's music to life on screen once again.
