📰 Big News for Forsyth County!

Tonya McDaniel Forsyth County Board of Commissioners District A have officially passed a new policy to expand community access by shifting to one evening meeting (6pm) per month starting in 2026! Our briefings are still scheduled on Mondays at 2pm, and our quarterly discussions are scheduled fo 10am.

This calendar 📆 meeting change allows more access than our community has had in years — and it didn’t happen overnight. We’ve come a mighty long way since 2018. It took compromise, collaboration, and strategic work across party lines to move this forward. We didn’t all agree on every detail, but 5 out of 7 Commissioners did — three Democrats and two Republicans standing together for greater transparency and community engagement. Special thanks to my colleague Dan Besse for Forsyth County Commissioner for the hard work behind the scenes.

I deeply appreciate my colleagues for being willing to try the quarterly evening meeting model for years, and now embracing a new schedule that puts our constituents first.

Yesterday was a day to remember.

I won a headshot photoshoot with Jodie Brim Creative. If you know me, you know I am usually the jeans and t-shirt type, always relaxed and behind the camera capturing everyone else’s moments. But yesterday was different.

The day started with hair, nails, and makeup. did my makeup, and John at Friendly Nails made sure my nails were perfect. I arrived a few minutes late, but Jodie and her team welcomed me with such warmth that I instantly felt at ease.

For once, I allowed myself to be in front of the lens to simply be. To pause, to breathe, and to enjoy being seen. It reminded me that joy and peace are found in those small moments when we choose to be authentic, present, and unapologetically ourselves.

✨ Take time to find what brings you peace. Show up as your true self because that is where real beauty begins.

✨ Growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. ✨

Back in June, I took a leap of faith and applied for athe Alamance Chamber Small Business Grant. Honestly, it stretched me—I had to silence the doubts and remind myself that leveling up requires risk and intention.

Fast forward to today: I WON that grant. 🙌 And I used the funds to invest in a brand new Canon camera. The best part? It was delivered TODAY—on my birthday. 🎉 Talk about a gift that symbolizes growth, courage, and the next level!

What makes this even more special is knowing I didn’t do it alone. The encouragement, support, and prayers from those around me gave me the push I needed. It’s proof that when you step out of your comfort zone, believe in yourself, and surround yourself with the right people, amazing things happen.
