‼️🚨President Trump recently claimed that “Inflation is dropping. Americans have more money — and the country has more money. We’ve been making $2-3 billion a day the last couple of weeks.”

This statement was made during a signing ceremony for new energy policies, where President Trump touted the success of his tariff strategy, claiming the tariffs are generating significant revenue.

However, it’s important to note that while the administration reports a decrease in inflation, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) falling by 0.1% in March 2025, some economists caution that the relief may be temporary due to ongoing trade tensions and tariffs.

Therefore, while the administration highlights positive economic indicators, the long-term effects of current policies, including tariffs, remain a subject of debate among experts.

In an unprecedented move, the UK government has taken control of British Steel to prevent the closure of the Scunthorpe plant, the nation’s sole producer of virgin steel. This action aims to safeguard 2,700 jobs and maintain critical infrastructure for defense and major projects like the AUKUS submarine program. The intervention followed failed negotiations with Chinese owner Jingye Group, which demanded £1 billion in aid. Parliament convened over the weekend for the first time since the Falklands War to pass emergency legislation.

‼️🚨UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has acknowledged that he has not spoken directly with U.S. President Donald Trump since the imposition of new American trade tariffs, which include a 10% general tariff and an additional 25% on UK steel and car exports. Despite this lack of direct communication, Starmer emphasized the strength of the UK-U.S. relationship, particularly in defense, security, and intelligence sharing.

The UK government was reportedly not given advance notice of the tariff changes, and Starmer defended the decision not to retaliate with tariffs, despite the UK not receiving any specific concessions.

Public sentiment in the UK appears to favor strengthening trade ties with the European Union over pursuing new economic deals with the United States. A recent YouGov poll indicates that a majority of UK voters believe closer EU relations would benefit the UK economy, with 68% foreseeing a positive impact on UK-EU trade.

‼️🚨 Trade War Escalates: China Imposes 125% Tariffs as U.S. Markets React‼️🚨

China has retaliated in the ongoing trade war with the U.S. by increasing tariffs on American goods to 125%, prompting the White House to promise an even stronger response. The Trump administration maintains that its tariff policy aims to reduce dependency on foreign supply chains and strengthen domestic manufacturing. Despite economic uncertainty and concerns about inflation, the U.S. reports that over 75 countries are eager to negotiate trade deals.

‼️🚨A 17-year-old from Waukesha, Wisconsin, Nikita Casap, has been charged with the murders of his mother, Tatiana Casap, and stepfather, Donald Mayer. Federal authorities allege that these killings were part of a broader plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump and overthrow the U.S. government. Court documents indicate that Casap aimed to “obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary” to carry out this plan.

Investigators discovered that Casap had connections to the neo-Nazi group “Order of Nine Angles” and had authored a manifesto expressing intentions to “foment a political revolution in the United States” and “save the white race.” He allegedly discussed plans to use drones and explosives as weapons of mass destruction and had communicated with others about his intentions.

Casap was arrested in Kansas, found with his stepfather’s car, a firearm, and $14,000 in cash. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, theft, and federal charges related to conspiracy and attempted assassination. He remains in custody on a $1 million bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for May 7.

‼️🚨On April 11, 2025, the Harvard faculty chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), along with the national organization, filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in a Boston federal court. The lawsuit aims to block a federal review of nearly $9 billion in contracts and grants awarded to Harvard University. This review is part of the administration’s broader initiative to address what it perceives as antisemitism on college campuses, linking it to pro-Palestinian protests, diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) programs, and transgender policies.

The administration’s demands for continued funding include banning mask use at protests, eliminating DEI initiatives, and increased cooperation with law enforcement. The lawsuit contends that these measures infringe upon academic freedom and First Amendment rights, accusing the government of using funding to impose political views and suppress free expression.

This legal action reflects growing tensions between the federal government and academic institutions over issues of free speech and institutional autonomy. Similar funding reviews and freezes have affected other universities, including Columbia, Cornell, and Northwestern, as part of the administration’s efforts to enforce its policies on campus.

The Department of Justice has not yet responded to the lawsuit, and Harvard University has declined to comment on the matter.

‼️🚨On Sunday, April 13, 2025, a Russian ballistic missile strike targeted the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, resulting in at least 21 civilian deaths and injuring 34 others, including five children. The attack occurred around 10:15 a.m. local time, coinciding with Palm Sunday celebrations, a significant day in the Christian calendar.

Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar confirmed the casualties, stating, “On this bright Palm Sunday, our community has suffered a terrible tragedy.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strike, describing it as “terrible” and highlighting the cruelty of attacking civilians during a religious observance.

The assault came shortly after diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the conflict, including a visit by U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow to discuss a potential peace deal. Ukrainian officials criticized the strike as undermining these diplomatic initiatives.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of intensified Russian military actions in Ukraine, particularly in the northeastern regions, as part of the 2025 Russian spring offensive.

Emergency services are actively engaged in rescue and recovery operations in Sumy. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely.

‼️🚨The Trump administration has announced that smartphones, laptops, and other key electronics will be exempt from the recently imposed reciprocal tariffs. This decision, effective retroactively from April 5, 2025, aims to alleviate potential price increases for consumers and provide relief to major tech companies.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the exemptions cover 20 product categories, including smartphones, laptops, hard drives, semiconductors, and flat-panel displays. These items will no longer be subject to the 145% tariffs on Chinese imports or the 10% baseline tariffs on goods from other countries.

The move is seen as a response to concerns about the impact of tariffs on consumer electronics prices and the broader tech industry. Analysts had warned that tariffs could significantly increase the cost of products like the iPhone, potentially raising prices from $1,599 to $2,300.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump aims to reduce reliance on foreign manufacturing for critical technologies. She noted that companies such as Apple, Nvidia, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company are working to shift production to the United States.

While this exemption provides temporary relief, the administration maintains a 20% tariff on Chinese imports related to the fentanyl crisis and plans to initiate a new national security trade investigation into semiconductors, which could lead to additional tariffs.

The exemption is expected to benefit both consumers and tech companies by preventing immediate price hikes and stabilizing the market. Analysts anticipate a positive response in the stock market, particularly for companies like Apple and Nvidia.
