Getting called out by your own kid is WILD. 😂

“Daddy… have you caught a 21 yet?”

Well damn, son. I thought we were family. 😂 I don’t need the tournament leaderboard anymore, I’ve apparently got a full-time stat keeper living in my house.

I thought the internet was a tough place… SHEEEEESH. 😂

I’m trying, big dawg. Let me struggle in peace. 😫

Brown fish just hit different. 😮‍💨🤙🏽Never getting tired of seeing one of these stretched across the board.

Okay… WOW. So that’s how that feels. 😂

I’ve got a LOT of hours to put into this, but the goal is simple: build the same confidence with this technique that I have with a jig.

This is a side of tournament fishing I normally don’t show.

I had just caught a 20” fish, then lost another one I desperately needed, and I could feel myself starting to go down that road mentally. I’ve been there before. One missed fish turns into frustration, frustration turns into overthinking, and before you know it you’ve taken yourself completely out of what you’re trying to do.

I’ve worked hard on that part of myself. Sometimes I talk to the camera just to get the thoughts out of my head, slow myself down and reset.

Tournament fishing can be a ton of fun and incredibly rewarding, but when you care about it, set goals for yourself and have expectations, it can absolutely drain you sometimes.

And really, I don’t care if this video does well. I’m kinda posting this one for me. It’s a side of this that I’ve never really shown before, and maybe somebody else who competes and puts pressure on themselves will understand exactly what I’m talking about.

Get your head right. Make another cast. Keep fishing. Keep casting.
